Job description

Job Title: Structural Senior Project Manager
Job Location: Dallas, TX
Job Duration: Full-Time/Permanent
 
Role Overview:
  • The Structural Senior Project Manager will work independently under the direct supervision of the Engineer of Record to manage the structural team’s engineering and drafting tasks for various projects. This role involves providing structural design directly or indirectly to project team members and serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external project coordination. The ideal candidate will also oversee the Construction Administration Phase, which includes managing shop drawings, RFIs, site visits, and OAC meetings. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the structural team in performing engineering and drafting tasks for assigned projects.
  • Provide structural design directly or indirectly to project team members.
  • Act as the primary liaison for project coordination, internally within the structural team and externally with other disciplines (e.g., architecture, MEP).
  • Oversee the Construction Administration Phase, including:
  • Reviewing and managing shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Conducting site visits and attending OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings as needed.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with other disciplines and design review meetings with supervisors, clients, and owners.
  • Attend work sessions with owner-client agencies to discuss project scope and structural design methodology.
  • Coordinate the design and documentation process to ensure construction documents are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain structural specifications, select construction procedures, determine materials and member sizes, and perform necessary calculations for accurate design.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, change proposal requests, and change orders, and incorporate changes into project documents.
  • Communicate effectively through written and verbal means to relay design and coordination details to project team members, and prepare defensible engineering reports, memos, and correspondence.
  • Conduct site observations and site walks during construction, and author detailed observation reports.
 
Qualifications:
 
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
 
Licensure:
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license in Texas required.
 
Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of full-time, progressive structural engineering experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading multi-discipline project teams preferred.
 
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in structural engineering software, including ETABS, SAFE, RISA, RAM, and ENERCALC.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and other office tools.
  • Expertise in designing with various structural materials, including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
 
Knowledge:
  • In-depth understanding of state building codes and applicable design codes (e.g., ASCE, AISC, ACI, MSJC, NDS).
 
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Client-focused mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
