ABOUT O'KEEFE MEDIA GROUP

A celebrated American journalist and media innovator, James O'Keefe and his team are renowned for impactful reporting that has inspired legislative reforms, led to official congressional inquiries, and exposed corruption at some of the nation's most powerful institutions.

The OMG mission is to empower and equip a movement of citizen journalists to expose wrongdoing, corruption, and government overreach, supported by an in-house team of experienced journalists, producers, and editors dedicated to bringing factual stories to light.

Position Overview

O'Keefe Media Group is seeking a Communications Director to lead the organization's external communications strategy and help shape how our reporting, mission, and impact are communicated to the public.

This individual will serve as a key voice for the organization, managing media relations, public messaging, strategic communications, and reputation management. The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator who can operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, respond quickly to developing stories, and help amplify the reach and impact of our investigative journalism.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute OMG's communications strategy across media, public relations, and external communications channels.
  • Draft and oversee press releases, public statements, media advisories, talking points, and executive communications.
  • Manage relationships with journalists, media outlets, podcast hosts, and other external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate media outreach surrounding investigations, major reports, events, and organizational announcements.
  • Work closely with James O'Keefe and senior leadership to ensure consistent messaging and strategic communication priorities.
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, identifying opportunities and potential risks.
  • Assist with crisis communications and rapid-response messaging as needed.
  • Support speaking engagements, interviews, appearances, and public-facing initiatives.
  • Maintain communication calendars and coordinate messaging across departments.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, media relations, journalism, political communications, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience drafting communications for executives, public figures, or organizations.
  • Strong understanding of media relations and news cycles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in journalism, media, advocacy, public affairs, political communications, or nonprofit communications.
  • Existing relationships with journalists, producers, media outlets, and industry contacts.
  • Experience supporting executive communications and public-facing leadership.
  • Passion for investigative journalism and independent media.
