About the Role

Our company is a global freight forwarding and third-party logistics provider, offering ocean, air, and NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) services alongside customs clearance for import and export shipments. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Licensed Customs Broker to join our Secaucus, NJ team. In this role, you will manage the customs clearance process across all modes of transportation, ensuring full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other applicable federal agency requirements, while supporting our global freight operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, review, and submit customs entries and supporting documentation for import/export shipments arriving via ocean, air, and other modes, in compliance with CBP regulations.

- Classify merchandise using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and determine applicable duties, taxes, and fees.

- Ensure compliance with Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements, including FDA, USDA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies as applicable.

- Coordinate with internal freight forwarding, NVOCC, and operations teams, as well as external clients, carriers, and government agencies, to resolve shipment holds, discrepancies, or documentation issues.

- Monitor changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements, and advise clients and internal teams accordingly.

- Maintain accurate records of entries, classifications, and duty payments in accordance with CBP recordkeeping requirements.

- Support internal audits and ensure adherence to company compliance policies and regulatory standards.

- Assist with duty drawback, bonded warehouse, and Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) processes as needed.

- Collaborate cross-functionally with freight forwarding and logistics teams to ensure seamless door-to-door shipment handling.

Qualifications

- Active U.S. Customs Broker License issued by CBP (required).

- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or trade compliance, ideally within an NVOCC or logistics environment.

- Strong working knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, CBP regulations, and the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system.

- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple entries across ocean and air shipments simultaneously.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external partners.

- Proficiency with customs entry software and Microsoft Office applications.

- Bachelor's degree in international trade, logistics, business, or a related field preferred, but not required with relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

- Experience working within a freight forwarding or NVOCC environment.

- Familiarity with FTZ, duty drawback, or bonded warehouse operations.

- Familiarity with free trade agreements (e.g., USMCA) and their application to entry filings.
