We are looking for a Senior Underwriter to support our Underwriting team.

This role is ideal for an experienced underwriter who enjoys evaluating complex lending opportunities, analyzing financial information, and making sound credit decisions. You'll play a key role by reviewing complex financing requests, partnering with internal teams, and helping ensure funding decisions are accurate, timely, and aligned with ECG's lending philosophy. If you're analytical, decisive, and motivated to make a meaningful impact, this is a strong opportunity. In this role, you'll independently evaluate credit requests, collaborate across departments, and help balance responsible lending with business growth.

What You'll Do:

· Review and evaluate complex small business financing requests requiring manual underwriting

· Analyze financial information, credit profiles, supporting documentation, and risk factors

· Make independent credit decisions using established underwriting guidelines

· Evaluate exception-based lending scenarios while maintaining risk tolerances

· Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance prior to funding

· Generate contract requests and validate funding documentation

· Partner with Sales, Underwriting Processing, Merchant Support, and other teams

· Communicate professionally with merchants, referral partners, and lenders

· Resolve complex underwriting questions and funding scenarios

· Identify opportunities to improve underwriting quality and operational efficiency

What You'll Learn:

· Advanced commercial underwriting and credit analysis

· Complex risk assessment and exception-based lending

· Cross-functional collaboration across ECG's lending operations

· Strategies for balancing portfolio quality with business growth

· Continuous improvement within a growing fintech organization

Why Join Us:

· Meaningful Impact: Make credit decisions that directly influence funding outcomes

· Challenging Work: Evaluate complex commercial lending opportunities

· Growth Potential: Continue developing your underwriting expertise

· Team Environment: Collaborative, fast-paced, and execution-focused

· Consistency: Monday–Friday schedule with predictable hours

Work Environment:

· In-office role based in Sioux Falls, SD or Sandy, UT

· Professional office environment with a collaborative team atmosphere

What We're Looking For:

Strong candidates typically have experience in:

· Commercial or small business underwriting

· Financial analysis and credit decision-making

· Manual underwriting and exception-based lending

· Working in banking, lending, or financial services

· Collaborating across departments to support funding decisions

You'll Thrive in This Role If You Are:

· Analytical and detail-oriented

· Comfortable making independent decisions

· Organized and able to manage multiple priorities

· A strong communicator and collaborative partner

· Committed to accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement

Requirements:

Required Experience:

· Minimum of four years of underwriting experience making credit decisions in a financial services or lending environment

· Experience analyzing complex financial information and applying underwriting guidelines

· Strong analytical, mathematical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet-based research tools

Preferred Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field

· Experience underwriting small business, working capital, or commercial lending products

· Experience reviewing complex or exception-based underwriting scenarios

· Experience in alternative lending or fintech

· Knowledge of business financial statements, cash flow analysis, and commercial credit evaluation

· Experience mentoring or serving as a resource for junior underwriters or underwriting processing staff
