Job description

Experienced Dental Assistant

Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorations, simple extractions, prosthodontics, and clear aligner treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, maintaining strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards (Sterilization).
• Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
• Manage patient records accurately using Open dental, and DEXIS ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and data security.
• Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to enhance understanding and comfort.
• Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and assisting with insurance documentation using medical coding systems.
• Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with medical documentation related to patient health history or pediatrics cases.
Experience requirements
• Prior experience working in a Prosthodontist or General dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential.
• Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques are required, extended functions.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical documentation processes is necessary for accurate communication and recordkeeping.
• Experience with Open Dental and DEXIS is a must.
• Hands-on experience with X-ray equipment, 3D scanners, and medical imaging tools will support your success in this role.
• Certification in radiography or dental assisting credentials that include X-ray certification are required.
• Strong communication skills and being able to adjust quickly in a rapidly changing environment.
