Job description

Christie Clinic's department of Internal Medicine/Pediatrics is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant at the Medical Hills clinic in Bloomington from Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, with no night or weekend requirements.

This position provides the opportunity to room patients, collect vitals, EMR documentation and assist with patient needs in this high volume fast paced environment.

Previous healthcare experience is highly preferred and a CNA or CMA is required.

JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments prior to appointment.  Clean and restock following appointment. 

  • Assist patient to exam room, take vitals, weight and height of patient.  Enter information into the electronic medical record.

  • Maintain and update patient medical record upon visit including allergies, medications, etc. and enter into the electronic medical record.

  • Assist with procedures during appointment.

  • Fax forms, orders to nursing homes, etc. as directed by nurse.  Sort faxes and distributes appropriately.

  • Check refrigerator temperature (for insulins, injectables, immunizations, etc.) to ensure stability.

  • Perform related work as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Certified Nurse Assistant Certificate and/or graduation from an accredited program for medical assistants

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous health care experience

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: 

  • CPR Certification

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds.  Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.    

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment.  Requirements may include working irregular hours.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
