What is a full time media job?

A Full Time Media job typically refers to a position in the media industry, such as journalism, broadcasting, advertising, or public relations, where the employee works standard full-time hours (usually 35-40 hours per week). These roles can include producing content for TV, radio, online platforms, or print publications, managing social media, or developing marketing campaigns. Full time positions usually come with benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and job stability compared to freelance or part-time roles. The specific responsibilities depend on the media sector and the employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time media professional?

To thrive as a Full Time Media Professional, you need strong content creation abilities, communication skills, and a relevant degree such as in communications, journalism, or media studies. Familiarity with digital editing software, content management systems, social media platforms, and sometimes certifications in digital marketing or multimedia design is typically required. Creativity, adaptability, and time management are crucial soft skills that help professionals excel in a fast-paced and constantly evolving field. These skills and qualities are essential for producing engaging content, meeting deadlines, and staying competitive in the dynamic media industry.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working full-time in media, and how can they be navigated?

Media professionals often encounter tight deadlines, rapidly changing priorities, and the need to adapt to new technologies or platforms. Balancing creativity with the demands of fast-paced news cycles or production schedules can be challenging. Successful media employees typically develop strong time-management skills, stay updated on industry trends, and communicate proactively with their teams. Building a supportive network within the organization also helps in navigating the collaborative and often high-pressure environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute social media strategies for multiple clients

  • Build, launch, manage, and optimize paid social media campaigns through Meta Ads Manager

  • Communicate with clients, participate in strategy discussions, and translate client goals into actionable social media and advertising plans

Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE
WTP Media is looking for an experienced Senior Social Media & Paid Media Manager to join our team in Grand Rapids.

This is a senior-level, client-facing position for someone who has professional experience managing social media accounts AND hands-on experience building and managing paid campaigns in Meta Ads Manager.

This is not an entry-level social media position, content creator position, or a role for someone looking to learn Meta advertising on the job.

You’ll take ownership of organic social media and paid social campaigns for multiple WTP Media clients while communicating directly with clients, collaborating with our internal team, and using AI-powered tools that are already integrated into our marketing workflows.

This is a full-time hybrid position. Candidates must live in or near Grand Rapids, Michigan.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT
• Develop and execute social media strategies for multiple WTP Media clients
• Create engaging posts, captions, campaigns, and content concepts
• Build and manage monthly client content calendars
• Schedule and publish content across Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant platforms
• Maintain each client’s individual brand, voice, and marketing objectives
• Identify trends and new content opportunities
• Collaborate with WTP Media’s creative and video teams to turn client assets into social content
• Monitor performance and adjust strategies based on results
• Manage multiple client accounts, deadlines, approvals, and deliverables simultaneously

META ADVERTISING
• Independently build, launch, manage, and optimize campaigns through Meta Ads Manager
• Develop campaign structures based on client objectives
• Manage targeting, audiences, budgets, placements, creative, and messaging
• Build lead-generation and conversion-focused campaigns
• Monitor leads, conversions, cost per result, and other key performance indicators
• Test creative, messaging, audiences, and campaign strategies
• Diagnose underperforming campaigns and make proactive adjustments
• Clearly communicate campaign performance and recommendations to clients and WTP team

CLIENT COMMUNICATION & STRATEGY
• Serve as a primary social media contact for assigned clients
• Participate in client meetings and strategy discussions
• Communicate confidently and professionally with business owners and marketing teams
• Translate client goals into actionable social media and paid advertising strategies
• Present ideas, recommendations, results, and next steps
• Take ownership of client relationships and deliverables without requiring constant direction

AI & MODERN MARKETING TOOLS
AI is already integrated into how WTP Media operates. You don’t need to be an AI engineer, but you do need to be comfortable working in an AI-assisted marketing environment. You’ll use AI-supported workflows for:
• Content ideation and research
• Copy and caption development
• Campaign concepts
• Creative variations
• Audience and competitor research
• Content repurposing
• Reporting and analysis
• Improving workflow efficiency

We want someone who views AI as a tool that makes a talented marketer better and more efficient, not as a substitute for marketing experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS — PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING
These are minimum requirements for this position. Candidates who do not meet them should not apply.
• 3+ years of direct, professional social media management experience
• Professional experience managing social media accounts for businesses, brands, or clients
• Hands-on experience using Meta Ads Manager
• Proven ability to independently build, launch, manage, and optimize paid Facebook and Instagram campaigns
• Experience managing multiple social media accounts or clients simultaneously
• Strong copywriting and content-development skills
• Strong understanding of organic and paid social media strategy
• Experience analyzing campaign performance and making optimization decisions
• Experience communicating directly with clients or business owners
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization and attention to detail
• Comfortable using AI tools as part of a professional marketing workflow
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of client accounts
• Must live in or near Grand Rapids, Michigan and be able to work in a hybrid environment

THIS POSITION IS NOT A FIT IF:
• Your social media experience is primarily personal, hobby-based, or limited to managing your own accounts
• You have less than 3 years of professional social media experience
• You’ve boosted Facebook or Instagram posts but have not independently managed campaigns inside Meta Ads Manager
• You’re looking for an entry-level position where you’ll be trained on social media or Meta advertising fundamentals
• You’re uncomfortable communicating directly with clients
• You need detailed instructions for every task rather than taking ownership of your accounts
• You’re looking for a fully remote position
• You don’t live within reasonable commuting distance of Grand Rapids, Michigan

THE PERSON WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You understand social media beyond simply posting content.

You know how organic content, paid advertising, creative, messaging, targeting, and business objectives work together.

You’re equally comfortable developing a month’s worth of client content, jumping into Meta Ads Manager to determine why a campaign isn’t performing, and getting on a call with a client to explain what you’re doing next.

You stay current with changes in social media, advertising, and AI and actively look for ways to improve your work.

Most importantly, you take ownership of your clients, your campaigns, and your results.
