The Dobbs Ferry School District seeks a K-8 Mathematics Curriculum Coordinator effective August 31, 2026. This is a full time, probationary, tenure track position.
Description:
The K-8 Mathematics Coordinator is a non-administrative position and works under the terms and conditions of the Dobbs Ferry United Teachers Collective Bargaining Agreement. The position supports teachers and students in Grades K-8 and ensures that students receive high-quality mathematics instruction based on the Illustrative Math program in preparation for a rigorous high school mathematics curriculum.
Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate has successfully demonstrated:
- An understanding of the scope of K-8 mathematics as defined by the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards,
- A willingness to collaborate with high school administration and teacher leaders to build an understanding of the high school courses and progressions,
- Strong mathematical content knowledge including the development of procedural and conceptual mathematical skills in students,
- An ability to identify and address specific needs of students in mathematics in the context of an RTI/MTSS process,
- A strong understanding of current research, professional texts, and the NYSED Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education framework,
- A consistent willingness to share knowledge with teachers and parents,
- Being well-versed in a variety of formative and summative assessments (screening, diagnostic, curriculum based, summative)
- A strong understanding of the effective uses of technology for teaching and learning including data collection, analysis, and application to improve instruction,
- A team-oriented disposition toward teaching and learning, and
- Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues and parents.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide and be a resource of Tier 1 strategies for teachers
- Analyze data and create action plans to meet the needs of the students
- Provide targeted small group instruction including but not limited to Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions
- Work with administrators and school-based interventionists to formulate student groupings and school-wide schedule for instructional support delivery
- Participate on school-based MTSS team
- Participate on the district data team
- Collaborate with high school administration and teacher leaders to build an understanding of the high school courses and progressions
- Coach teachers on effective instructional delivery, assessment, and intervention
- Provide teacher workshops on developing their mathematical knowledge and instructional delivery skills
- Collaborate with high school administration and teacher leaders to build an understanding of the high school courses and progressions
- Provide parent workshops that provide a activities to support parents' understanding of our mathematics curriculum and that provide options for how parents can help with their children's mathematical knowledge and skill-building at home
Requirements
- NYSED Certification Childhood Education Birth - Grade 2 and Grades 1-6
- Mathematics certification preferred
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and on par with the DFUT contract.
