Job description

WDAF-TV FOX4 Kansas City is seeking a full-time News Photographer who creates high-quality video content that drives storytelling for broadcast and digital news platforms. This role requires strong storytelling ability, technical expertise, and the ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.

  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Shoot video and sound for news reports, including live shots, interviews, and breaking news coverage
  • Collaborate with reporters, producers, and assignment desk personnel on story development and execution
  • Set up and execute interviews while capturing strong, relevant b-roll
  • Edit video for broadcast and digital platforms using non-linear editing systems (Adobe Premiere Pro preferred)
  • Operate live transmission equipment (TVU, Dejero, or similar) as assigned
  • Assist with newscast editing as part of cross-training
  • Maintain and properly care for station equipment and vehicles
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Requirements & Skills
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating video recording equipment
  • Television news photography experience preferred
  • Proficiency in non-linear editing systems (Adobe Premiere Pro preferred)
  • Strong understanding of visual storytelling, lighting, composition, and audio techniques
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Degree in broadcasting, journalism, or related field preferred
  • Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
  • Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and severe weather
  • Operate cameras, computers, and vehicles for extended periods
