The Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences at Rowan University is seeking to hire a non-tenure track Teaching Professor who will serve as Director of the Medical Laboratory Science programming at Rowan University.
The Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences is specifically interested in candidates with experience teaching in and/or overseeing Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) programs. Applicants must hold ASCP Certification and preference will be given to candidates with familiarity with NAACLS Accreditation and those with both clinical and academic experience. The successful candidate should be passionate about teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
This position will lead programmatic NAACLS accreditation application, teach select courses, advise and recruit MLS students, and establish an undergraduate Medical Laboratory Science program as well as community college partnerships, establishing pipelines into the undergraduate and graduate MLS programs. The university currently offers an undergraduate certificate, graduate certificate, and Master's MLS programs and has arrangements for Clinical rotations at Virtua Health, Voorhees Campus. The candidate will partner with the departmental leadership to ensure appropriate staffing of program courses. Teaching responsibilities will align with the successful candidate's areas of expertise. Upon successful accreditation and establishment of the undergraduate program, teaching and administrative responsibilities will increase accordingly Successful candidates are also expected to participate in professional development to stay current in the field.
The MLS programs are interdisciplinary, primarily through collaborations between the Glassboro Main Campus departments of Biological & Biomedical Sciences and Chemistry & Biochemistry, as well as select courses offered through the Department of Biomedical Sciences on our Stratford campus. The successful candidate will join the faculty of the Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences and will collaborate across departments. The department is home to a variety of Biological subdisciplines including but not limited to Ecology, Bioinformatics, and Molecular & Cellular Biology. The candidate will also have access to an already established network of Clinical Lab industry experts and adjuncts who currently serve the program.
Candidates are expected to hold a terminal degree (or its professional equivalent). This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track appointment. Successful candidates will complete 30 workload credits per year, distributed across the academic year and summer term; the balance of workload credits, including teaching and program-related service, will be determined in consultation with the Dean and Provost offices.
Positions are renewable based on performance reviews and programmatic needs, contingent on deliverables described above including program establishment with sustained enrollment and full accreditation.

SALARY
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is:
  • Associate Teaching Professor: Ranges 28, 30
  • Assistant Teaching Professor: Ranges 24, 27
