Rate per hour worked: $14.73. Due to the minimum wage increase at MSU, the starting rate for this position is going to be $16 effective 8/9/26. Those hired prior to 8/9/26 will also be brought to the new minimum on this effective date.
Locations: Sparty's Market at 1855 Place and the MSU Union - Culinary Services Retail
Join our Sparty's Market Team! We are looking for people who are enthusiastic who want to work at our fresh, modern, fast-paced grocery market on campus. If you enjoy working in a collaborative environment, are interested in healthy living, and want to be immersed in this exciting new addition to MSU, we encourage you to apply. In this position you will gain real-world experience with customer service and problem-solving skills.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
• Delivering outstanding Spartan experiences (DOSE) in every interaction
• Assisting customer with purchases, including answering questions
• Assisting setting up and/or tearing food prep areas to maintain a sanitary environment
• Addressing and troubleshooting any operational/equipment problems and site needs at assigned location
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of site through, cleaning dishes, daily rounds checks and spot cleaning, during shift and after close
• Daily food preparation as assigned, using knowledge and practice of all relevant food safety regulations, standards, and guidelines
• Knowledge of store products and wayfinding within site
• Stocking, upkeep, and monitoring inventories levels and expiration dates for Front of House and Back of House inventory
• Completing special projects as assigned by full-time managers and site coordinators
• Maintaining a high degree of employee morale, demonstrating a positive, professional work approach
• Communicating with supervisors, managers, and all other team members to ensure excellent teamwork, service and customer assistance
• Lifting and moving up to 25 pounds
• Standing, walking >90% of shift

Required Qualifications
• Ability and strong desire to deliver outstanding Spartan experiences to both guests and teammates.
• Reliable personal transportation
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and other team members, remaining positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population.
• Ability to amicably receive constructive direction from supervisor/manager, and to professionally, quickly and efficiently implement same to improve product, and/or service.
• May be reassigned during the course of the shift, depending upon operational needs
• Maintain standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations required.
• Employ basic computer use to complete online compliance training, and use a register
• Must have ability and willingness to:
--- Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
--- Lift and move up to 25 pounds, and stand/walk for long periods of time
--- Bend and straighten at waist and/or squat, sometimes repeatedly during shift
--- Work all shifts as scheduled, remaining flexible to needs of the operation
• While on your shift, you will report to student and/or full-time supervisors and full-time management staff on duty. You will be responsible for satisfactorily performing tasks as assigned by those supervising work in the area to which you've been assigned

1855 hours place: Monday through Friday: 7:30am-7pm, Saturday and Sunday: 9am-7pm
Looking for On-Calls that can work on of these shift times:10-2pm or 2pm-7pm
Hour Requirement: 20-25 hours/week
Shift Requirement: 4-5 shifts/week
Variable nights & weekends are required for this position, (This includes Sporting events, Special Events and during holiday breaks)
