Job description

Position Overview
Greer's is seeking a dependable and self-motivated Facility Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep and operational integrity of our retail store locations and commercial properties. This full-time position requires daily travel between store locations across Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, with no overnight travel expected. The technician will serve as the first point of contact for facility-related issues, assessing conditions on-site and reporting findings to the Maintenance Coordinator to determine whether repairs can be handled in-house or require an outside contractor.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Respond to submitted work orders and conduct on-site assessments at assigned store locations
โ€ข Evaluate maintenance and repair needs across building systems including general structure, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and HVAC
โ€ข Report assessment findings to the Maintenance Coordinator with clear documentation of issue scope and recommended course of action
โ€ข Perform in-house repairs and routine maintenance tasks as directed
โ€ข Operate and perform basic maintenance on small engine-powered equipment
โ€ข Coordinate with the Maintenance Coordinator when outside vendor involvement is required
โ€ข Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment at all locations
โ€ข Travel between store locations across the assigned region
Qualifications
โ€ข Prior experience in facility maintenance, building trades, general construction, or a related field preferred
โ€ข General working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and structural maintenance
โ€ข Experience operating and servicing small engine equipment
โ€ข Strong observational and problem-solving skills; ability to assess issues and communicate findings accurately
โ€ข Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
โ€ข Ability to travel between multiple locations throughout the workday
โ€ข Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
โ€ข Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods
