As an intern with the Electrification and Automation (EA) division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting power distribution systems that keep the world running today, while also being exposed to our Future Grids technologies that are shaping the power systems of tomorrow - all within a collaborative, impact-driven environment.

We are seeking qualified candidates to join our Research & Development Simulation Engineering Internship in May or June 2027. This position will be based at our Raleigh, North Carolina office location.

You'll make an impact by:

  • Supporting geometry simplification of standard mechanical assemblies to improve simulation performance and turnaround time.
  • Simplifying and preparing 3D designs in NX for use in simulation workflows.
  • Supporting mechanical design activities within NX to enable simulation and analysis efforts.
  • Collaborating with sensor simulation engineers to support simulation requests and design updates.
  • Assisting with organization and documentation of simulation-ready models and design files.

You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools. (ie, Creo, NX, Solidworks, etc.)
  • Ability to work on-site full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the 12-week summer internship.
  • Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide relocation support.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • This internship is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced 3D modeling techniques or experience with complex assemblies.
  • Familiarity with simulation concepts or coursework such as finite element analysis.
  • Familiarity with linear algebra.
  • Experience using NX for mechanical design or simulation preparation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn simulation workflows.

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 per hour for first time Interns or $25.50 per hour for returning Interns. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
