Job description

Key Result Areas

The Classroom Teacher is accountable to the Academic Director. She is responsible for the daily structure and operation of the classroom for all students. She serves as teacher and mentor as she implements each student’s individualized education plan. She works alongside fellow teachers to coordinate education components of treatment for each student.

Qualifications

  • BA or MA in field of study, preferably Education
  • Working toward or possesses a teaching certificate issued by the State of Louisiana
  • CPR, First-Aid, and Behavior Management Training
  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle report
  • Able to operate a passenger vehicle
  • Experience in classroom management

  • Advise Academic Director of classroom material needs
  • Coordinate tutor instruction time
  • Meet with the Academic Director weekly to coordinate lesson planning
  • File educational documents
  • Ability to be physically active, indoors and outside; includes walking, running, standing, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs, etc.
  • Ability to effectively use the Evangelhouse technology and communication systems
  • Maintain small school library collection
  • Transport and supervise students taking ACT and SAT testing four times per year
  • Order educational materials for each student according to IEP
  • Document education progress in weekly LifelLeafTM reports and EMR
  • Coordinate educational transcripts and records requests when needed
