Job Summary
Oversees the installation, maintenance,troubleshooting, migration, and inventory of Library Technology equipment andsoftware and provides systems administration andtechnical support for library technology platforms. Serves as systemsadministrator for assigned library applications, manages the Library Technologysupport queue and equipment reservations, and serves as a primary technicalresource for library systems, desktop technology, and digital initiatives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provides desktop and technical support for Library Technology services not covered by iTech, including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, migration, and repair of computers, software, printers, peripherals, and related technology.
  2. Manages the Library Technology support queue and equipment reservations, documents service requests and resolutions, communicates status updates, and identifies recurring issues and opportunities to improve support services.
  3. Administers assigned library systems, including Omeka and ArchivesSpace, and serves as backup administrator for Alma, Primo VE, and Tipasa. Manages configurations, user access, system maintenance, performance, and availability.
  4. Serves as the primary technical liaison with vendors for assigned library systems and assists with troubleshooting, upgrades, testing, integrations, documentation, and disaster recovery activities.
  5. Maintains technology inventory and assists with the evaluation, acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and replacement of Library Technology equipment and software.
  6. Provides technical support for library digital initiatives, including the Mississippi Digital Library, Aquila Digital Community, digitization projects, research data management, and digital preservation activities.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsAssociate's degree in a technical field of study or one to twoyears of technical support or library technology experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of desktop hardware, software, peripherals, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Knowledge of systems administration concepts, user account management, permissions, configurations, and system maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, application, and connectivity issues.
  • Ability to administer and support web-based applications and enterprise technology systems.
  • Ability to maintain accurate technical documentation, inventories, and support records.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical requests and priorities while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to technical and non-technical users.
  • Stronganalytical, organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications
Experience troubleshooting technical issues and equipment.
Experience workingwith Library Technology departments.
