Full Time Leasing Agent information

What does a full time leasing agent do?

A Full Time Leasing Agent is responsible for managing rental properties on behalf of landlords or property management companies. Their duties typically include showing available units to prospective tenants, processing rental applications, preparing lease agreements, and handling move-in and move-out procedures. They also answer questions about the property, enforce lease terms, and may assist with marketing vacant units. Good communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time leasing agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Leasing Agent, you need strong sales acumen, customer service skills, and a thorough understanding of property management practices, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with property management software (such as Yardi or AppFolio), basic real estate knowledge, and occasionally a leasing certification are typically required. Outstanding communication, negotiation, and organizational skills help build rapport with prospective tenants and efficiently manage leasing processes. These competencies are crucial for maximizing occupancy rates, ensuring tenant satisfaction, and supporting the overall success of a property management team.

What are some common challenges full time leasing agents face when working with prospective tenants?

Full Time Leasing Agents often encounter challenges such as managing high volumes of inquiries, addressing diverse tenant needs, and navigating tight leasing deadlines. Balancing multiple property showings, responding promptly to questions, and ensuring all application paperwork is accurately processed are typical aspects of the role. Additionally, agents must sometimes mediate between property owners and applicants to resolve concerns or negotiate lease terms, requiring strong communication and organizational skills.

What is the difference between Full Time Leasing Agent vs Part Time Leasing Agent?

AspectFull Time Leasing AgentPart Time Leasing Agent

Full Time Leasing Agents work standard hours, often requiring leasing certifications, and are employed full-time by property managers. Part Time Leasing Agents work fewer hours, may have similar credentials, and offer flexible scheduling. Both roles involve assisting prospective tenants, showing properties, and processing lease applications, but the full-time position provides more stability and consistent hours.

Are full time leasing agents in demand?

Full-time leasing agents are in demand due to the ongoing need for property management and rental services. The role often requires strong communication skills and knowledge of leasing software, and employment opportunities are typically available in both residential and commercial real estate sectors.

How much do full time leasing agents make in a year?

Full-time leasing agents typically earn between $30,000 and $50,000 annually, with salaries varying based on location, experience, and the size of the property portfolio. Many leasing agents also receive commissions or bonuses based on leasing performance, which can increase total compensation.

Is it worth becoming a full time leasing agent?

A full-time leasing agent manages rental property showings, tenant screening, and lease agreements, often working in property management or real estate firms. The role offers steady income, commission opportunities, and requires strong communication and organizational skills. It can be a good career choice for those interested in real estate and customer service, with potential for advancement into property management or sales.

Where do full time leasing agents make the most money?

Full time leasing agents tend to earn higher salaries in regions with a high cost of living and strong rental markets, such as major metropolitan areas. Compensation can also increase with experience, certifications, and the size or type of property portfolio managed. Additionally, leasing agents working for large property management companies or luxury apartment complexes often have higher earning potential.

Job description

Benefits
Leasing Consultant (Leasing Agent)
Providence at McDowell Phoenix, Arizona
Full-Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt) + Commission On-Site
About the Role
We're looking for a Leasing Consultant who genuinely likes people and likes to win. You'll be the first face a prospect sees and the reason many of them sign - giving tours, following up on leads, closing applications, and keeping current residents happy enough to renew.
This is a sales role wrapped in hospitality. If you can hold a conversation, keep your follow-up organized, and get satisfaction out of hitting a number, you'll do well here.
What You'll Do
Leasing & Sales
โ€ข Greet walk-ins, answer calls and internet leads, and schedule appointments
โ€ข Tour models, available units, and amenities; match prospects to the right floor plan
โ€ข Follow up on every lead until it closes or dies - phone, text, and email
โ€ข Process applications: income and credit screening, verification, and approvals
โ€ข Prepare and execute lease documents, addenda, and renewal agreements
โ€ข Maintain accurate guest cards, traffic logs, and conversion data in the property management system
โ€ข Hit individual weekly leasing, closing-ratio, and follow-up goals
Marketing & Outreach
โ€ข Conduct competitor market surveys and report on pricing, specials, and concessions
โ€ข Contribute photos, video, and content for social media and listing sites
โ€ข Support outreach to local employers, referral partners, and neighborhood businesses
โ€ข Help plan and staff resident events and leasing promotions
โ€ข Keep models, the tour path, and the leasing office show-ready every day
Resident Relations & Retention
โ€ข Welcome new residents and complete move-in orientations and paperwork
โ€ข Run renewal outreach and lease-expiration follow-up
โ€ข Take service requests, route them to maintenance, and follow up to confirm resolution
โ€ข Assist with resident communications, packages, and general office coverage
Operations Support
โ€ข Walk vacant units for market-ready condition before showings
โ€ข Note curb appeal, safety, and maintenance issues while walking the property
โ€ข Assist with renewals paperwork, notices, and file maintenance in compliance with Fair Housing law
โ€ข Support the office team with general administrative tasks as needed
What You Bring
Required
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent
โ€ข 1+ year in sales, leasing, hospitality, retail, restaurants, or another customer-facing role
โ€ข Comfortable asking for the sale and following up persistently without being pushy
โ€ข Strong written and verbal communication; professional phone and email presence
โ€ข Basic computer skills (email, calendars, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace)
โ€ข Availability to work Saturdays and occasional evenings during peak leasing season
โ€ข Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred
โ€ข Prior multifamily leasing experience
โ€ข Working knowledge of Yardi, Entrata, RealPage, or comparable property management software
โ€ข Familiarity with Fair Housing requirements and the Arizona Residential Landlord and Tenant Act
โ€ข Bilingual (English/Spanish)
No Arizona real estate license is required for on-site leasing employees.
What Success Looks Like
โ€ข Closing ratio - you convert tours to applications at or above the property goal
โ€ข Follow-up discipline - no lead sits in the system untouched
โ€ข Occupancy - you treat the vacancy report as your scoreboard
โ€ข Renewals - residents know you by name and want to stay
Physical Requirements
Must be able to walk the property and tour units multiple times daily, including stairs; operate a golf cart; occasionally lift up to 25 lbs; sit or stand for extended periods; and work outdoors in Phoenix summer heat during tours and outreach events.
Compensation & Benefits
โ€ข Competitive hourly rate
โ€ข Per-lease commissions and renewal bonuses
โ€ข Monthly or quarterly leasing performance bonus
โ€ข Housing discount (if applicable)
โ€ข Medical, dental, and vision insurance
โ€ข 401(k) with company match
โ€ข Paid time off and holidays
โ€ข Paid training and a clear path to Assistant Community Manager
