WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are not looking for someone who needs direction at every turn. The Market Manager is part territory owner, part strategic seller, and fully self-directed. You will own the New York market with minimal oversight, and your results will speak for themselves.

  • You are proactive in building relationships, spotting opportunities, and flagging risks before they become problems
  • You bring ideas, not just execution — you surface market feedback, suggest campaigns, and push for better outcomes
  • You are comfortable being the only Leafly rep in the room and making that count
  • When no one is watching, your standard of work doesn’t change

ROLE SUMMARY

Leafly is hiring a Market Manager on our Sales team to help drive client relationships and revenue through the acquisition, development, and strategic management of Leafly’s key advertising partners in the New York market. This role is based in New York, NY, and is ideal for a self-starter who thrives on owning a territory, building relationships from the ground up, and taking initiative without waiting for direction. Leafly’s sales team is a curious group of highly skilled professionals focused on helping advertisers and agencies achieve their marketing objectives via advertising on the Leafly platform. As Market Manager for New York, you will be the face of Leafly to prospects and clients across the region, helping small, medium, and large businesses alike. As a key member of our sales team, you will be a critical part of shaping our sales strategy and influencing the company’s product roadmap. This role and team have high growth potential and is a major strategic focus at Leafly. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, self-motivated operator who can independently drive their book of business in one of our most important markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Territory Ownership amp; New Business

  • Own the New York market as a true self-starter — set the strategy, build the pipeline, and execute against it with minimal oversight
  • Establish mutually-beneficial relationships with new clients, educating them on Leafly and the value of the Leafly ads platform
  • Uncover business initiatives and pain points that map back to our solutions across multiple lines of business
  • Represent Leafly at in-market client meetings, industry events, and conferences throughout the New York region
  • Travel up to 50% within assigned markets (mostly New York State)

Account Management amp; Growth

  • Manage and deepen relationships with existing advertising partners, both with agencies and directly with advertisers, across the New York metro area
  • Lead with solutions when identifying opportunities for improvements in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
  • Drive consistent achievement against monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
  • Proactively check in with accounts before problems arise — don’t wait for inbound escalations

Market Intelligence amp; Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Work independently while collaborating effectively with internal sales leadership, ad operations, legal, product, and marketing teams on sales amp; product strategy
  • Shape Leafly’s ad product and sales roadmap by aggregating and sharing client feedback and campaign metrics with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Surface competitive intelligence, client feedback, and market trends from the field
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date account records and activity logs in Salesforce — your CRM hygiene reflects your professionalism

WHAT YOU BRING

Required

  • A true self-starter mindset — you take ownership, move fast, and don’t wait to be told what to do
  • 4+ years of digital media sales and account management experience
  • Experience closing sales and generating revenue with high achievement against monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
  • Experience managing complex client relationships where the customer need, sales strategy, and opportunity are not well defined; experience identifying and aggregating performance metrics and insights into effective narratives, with recommendations, to external senior leaders
  • Strong client management skills and proven experience engaging with senior executives on marketing strategy
  • A deep knowledge of traditional and digital media and its market landscape
  • A deep understanding of the way businesses operate and the priorities that drive decisions from the C-level
  • Proven ability to self-start, work independently, and produce outcomes quickly in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment
  • Based in the New York metro area with established local relationships and the ability to be in-market with clients regularly
  • Excellent written, verbal, in-person, and video conference communication skills
  • Proficient in Salesforce CRM, order management systems, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Mac systems, and other digital marketing systems and social media networks

Preferred

  • Knowledge and passion for the cannabis industry
  • A working understanding of the programmatic advertising landscape in North America

  • Knowledge of online advertising, digital media consumption patterns, and branding measurement
  • A track record of building a territory or market from scratch as a self-directed individual contributor
