Job description

Simple Laboratories is looking for a full-time Lab Technician II to join our Laboratory Operations' Core team at our main lab and HQ Harwood Heights location. The Lab Technician II performs routine and analytical tasks for Core lab to ensure the accuracy and quality of the data provided to clients on a daily basis while assisting in sample processing, analysis, recording data and maintaining laboratory cleanliness and laboratory equipment.
Schedule: Monday through Friday | 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM with alternating weekends

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex testing on patient specimens using advanced analytical techniques such as LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and immunoassays
  • Accurately interpret, verify, and report test results in accordance with laboratory protocols and clinical guidelines
  • Assist in method development, optimization, and validation of new clinical tests
  • Responsible for performing daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Verification of all chain of custody documents, quality controls, and calibrations
  • Provide technical assistance to ensure smooth laboratory workflow including but not limited to aliquoting, sample preparation, tracking inventory and preparing reagents.
  • Operates laboratory equipment, records and maintains data, data logs and equipment
  • Understand and follow quality procedures and protocols for security and confidentiality
  • Consult with laboratory technical staff regarding routine testing issues and practices
  • Adhere to all regulatory and standard operating procedure requirements
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff and contribute to training efforts within the laboratory

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree: Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory requirements
  • Prior GC/MS and LC/MS experience required
  • Comfortability working in high volume, fast paced environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at a given time
  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
