Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and administer physical therapy treatments to prevent disability, relieve pain, and restore muscle function in alignment with each patient's individualized care plan.
  • Evaluate clients' levels of function using diagnostic tests and assessments that measure muscle, nerve, joint, and overall physical abilities.
  • Conduct home evaluations to recommend adaptations that enhance client independence and safety.
  • Implement manual and non-manual therapeutic exercises, as well as treatments involving the application of physical agents like traction and massage.
  • Assist in the evaluation, fitting, and adjustment of prosthetic and orthotic devices, collaborating closely with physicians as needed.
  • Document patient progress comprehensively, preparing clinical records, initial evaluations, care plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss comprehensive treatment strategies and adjustments based on client responses.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to Physical Therapy Assistants in delivering care, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with patientsโ€™ families and other healthcare providers, advising them on care recommendations and equipment usage.
