GENERAL SUMMARY:

In this essential role, you'll be part of a skilled avionics team responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing advanced flight control, communication, and navigation systems. From routine system checks to complex wiring and component integration, you'll play a critical part in maintaining the technological integrity and safety of every aircraft that enters our facility.

As an Avionics Technician Intern, you'll work with advanced diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to identify issues, perform preventive maintenance, and support a wide range of electrical and digital systems. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft avionics and electrical systems, including navigation, communication, and autopilot.

  • Perform routine and scheduled inspections of electronic systems in accordance with FAA regulations.

  • Read and interpret complex wiring diagrams, engineering documents, and service bulletins.

  • Assist in the installation of new avionics suites and retrofitting existing systems with cutting-edge technology.

  • Utilize specialized test equipment (e.g., pitot-static testers, multimeters, and oscilloscopes) to verify system performance.

  • Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders, and compliance documentation.

  • Collaborate with fellow technicians, inspectors, and supervisors to meet project timelines and operational requirements.

  • Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to all safety protocols, including electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures.

Top candidates will possess:

  • Current Active Duty Status: Must be within 180 days of transition/retirement with command approval for DoD SkillBridge participation.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 4+ years related military experience in avionics, electrical systems, or integrated instrument systems (e.g., AFSC 2A6X1, MOS 15N, 15F, or Marine Corps 64XX).

  • Experience in an MRO, airline, or military aviation electronics environment.

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate or FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is a plus.

  • Familiarity with FAA Part 145 operations and documentation.

  • Strong understanding of basic electrical theory and signal tracing.

  • Proficiency using hand tools, soldering equipment, and diagnostic software.

Other requirements include:

  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces and in noisy environments.

  • Ability to occasionally travel for work assignments.

  • Ability to maintain a tool inventory in alignment with shop requirements.

  • Ability to obtain and retain an airport AOA badge.

  • Ability to work overtime and various shifts as business needs require.

The base hourly range for the full-time role following the internship is $25.00 to $45.00 per hour. The pay range provided is a good faith estimate representative of experience levels.
