Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position exists to provide organizational support in the daily operations of the Human Resources Department. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely coordination of processing payroll transactions and assisting in the effective coordination and communication of recruitment efforts. Additionally, this position provides support in other human resources functions including benefits, employee relations, training, and administration by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Payroll and Compliance
a. Review and audit employee timecards to ensure accuracy before payroll is initiated. Ensure time-off requests and punch changes accurately reflect staff's time worked.
b. Assist with payroll balancing to ensure accuracy with payroll changes including compensation, earnings, deductions, hour totals, demographics, benefit reconciliations, and all other payroll transactions.
c. Request and administer mailing of third-party payroll checks along with required reporting. (CUPAC, United Way, Garnishments, etc.)
d. Assist in the audit and review of all tax forms and coordinating their disbursement to employees.
2. Recruiting and Employment Cycle
a. Assist with posting positions, sourcing resumes, promoting positions through job fairs and job boards, administering assessments, coordinating interviews, evaluating candidates, conducting background checks, and communicating declinations.
b. Update and maintain position status in applicant tracking system.
c. Assist in coordinating the credit union's internship program.
d. Assist in efficiently processing staffing movements to ensure employee data is up to date within organizational software and internal spreadsheets.
e. Assist in the new employee onboarding communication and checklist completion to ensure employees are ready to begin work on their start date and managers know when to welcome them on site.
f. Process staffing movements to ensure accurate employee data in software and internal spreadsheets.
g. Assist in coordination of new, exit, and ongoing employee engagement surveys.
3. Teamwork and Strategy:
a. Partner with Human Resources, internal and external stakeholders, to respond to a wide variety of
inquiries to facilitate solutions and refer issues to appropriate subject matter experts.
b. Assist in developing and overseeing processes and procedures that accomplish functional goals set
forth by the department and organizational leadership.
c. Compile reports and maintain process procedures for all duties performed.
d. Process assistant level scope of Human Resources transactions and develop depth of knowledge on general HR practices, procedures and technology.
e. Assist in revising strategies for the Human Resource Department and employee life cycle that illustrates the strategic priority of improving team members and employee experience.
4. Assist in the administration of Ascentra's various philanthropic efforts including the United Way program, the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) golf outing, quarterly chapter meetings, and advocacy initiatives.
5. Actively and thoughtfully communicate with their supervisor, planning their goals and development, taking accountability for their actions, and striving for excellence.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, public administration, or a related field
• One to three years of Human Resources, accounting, similar or related experience
• Society of Human Resources Management SHRM- CP designation preferred
• Familiarity with Human Resources and employment laws and regulations
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 application suite
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Problem solving ability
• Team player
• Decision making skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
The following physical activities will be required on a day-to-day basis: climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, walking, pulling, fingering, feeling, hearing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, standing, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, repetitive motions.

HUMAN RELATION SKILLS NEEDED:
The ability to communicate effectively with members, staff, and contacts outside of the credit union in a polite, courteous timely, accurate and efficient manner. Patience in dealing with a difficult member.
