Position Summary
As a member of the trade compliance team (Corporate Counsel Dept.), the Import Specialist is responsible for supporting the trade compliance function within the trade compliance team focusing on imports. This includes the daily support for import shipments by support of broker requests, assigning HTS codes, daily file audit and review, and working with other company departments to facilitate the import activities of the company. Also supporting FTZ operations and C-TPAT compliance.
Role and Responsibilities
Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:
  • Research and respond to Customs requests for information in a timely manner as prescribed by regulation.
  • Research and classify new parts for imports according to the HTSUS (Harmonized Tariff System of the US).
  • Assist in risk assessment reviews including quarterly internal assessments for imports.
  • Assist with the annual preparation and distribution of C-TPAT supply chain security letters to suppliers and service providers.

Skills and Qualifications
Here's what you'll need:
  • 5-12 years of experience working in import operations and compliance with an importer, customs broker.
  • Knowledge of Customs Regulations especially 19 CFR 146. Import compliance and regulations. Working knowledge and . PC skills including Outlook, Excel, and industry related websites (CROSS, FDA, APHIS, US HTS, etc.). Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Classifications. Auditing principles.

The current base salary range for this role is between $65,000 - $107,500. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
