Full Time Hydrogen Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Time Hydrogen Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Hydrogen Engineer, you need a strong background in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering with thorough knowledge of hydrogen production, storage, and safety protocols, often supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with industry-specific software such as Aspen HYSYS, AutoCAD, and experience with hydrogen generation systems or fuel cell technologies is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective teamwork and communication skills set outstanding professionals apart. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring safe, efficient, and innovative solutions in the rapidly evolving hydrogen energy sector.

What are the typical collaborative projects and teams a Full Time Hydrogen Engineer works with in a company?

A Full Time Hydrogen Engineer often collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams such as mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineers, as well as project managers and safety specialists. These collaborations typically focus on designing and optimizing hydrogen production, storage, and distribution systems or integrating hydrogen solutions into existing energy infrastructure. Working cross-functionally is key, as projects frequently require input from R&D, operations, and compliance teams to ensure technical viability and regulatory adherence. Regular meetings and shared project management tools help keep everyone aligned and promote the exchange of technical insights.

What are Full Time Hydrogen Engineers?

Full Time Hydrogen Engineers are professionals who specialize in the design, development, and implementation of hydrogen-based technologies, such as fuel cells, hydrogen production, storage, and distribution systems. They typically work in industries focused on clean energy, transportation, or industrial processes that utilize hydrogen as a fuel or chemical feedstock. Their responsibilities may include research and development, system optimization, safety analysis, and supporting the integration of hydrogen solutions into larger energy networks. These engineers often collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance the adoption of hydrogen as a key component of sustainable energy systems.

What is the difference between Full Time Hydrogen Engineer vs Full Time Renewable Energy Engineer?

AspectFull Time Hydrogen EngineerFull Time Renewable Energy Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering; certifications in hydrogen safety and technologyBachelor's in Electrical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering; certifications in renewable energy systems
Work EnvironmentIndustrial plants, research labs, energy production facilitiesSolar farms, wind farms, research centers
Employer & Industry UsageEnergy companies, chemical industries, government agenciesRenewable energy firms, utilities, government agencies

Both roles focus on sustainable energy but differ in their specific technologies and environments. Hydrogen engineers specialize in hydrogen production, storage, and safety, often working in industrial settings. Renewable energy engineers work on solar, wind, or other renewable sources, typically in outdoor or research environments. The choice depends on your interest in hydrogen technology versus broader renewable systems.

Job description

Envision Group is a leading Greentech company with a global presence across Europe, North America, and Asia. Guided by our mission to 'solve challenges for a sustainable future,' Envision designs, sells, and operates smart wind turbines, while also striving to produce green chemicals to reduce the global carbon footprint. Committed to advancing wind and solar power, electric batteries, and Green Hydrogen, we aim to create a zero-carbon world.
Green Hydrogen is pivotal to our net-zero mission, given its wide-ranging industrial and transport applications. Conventional hydrogen production from fossil fuels results in significant carbon dioxide emissions. However, our innovative technologies utilize renewable energy and water to produce green hydrogen emission-free. We're dedicated to enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and scaling up manufacturing to meet the growing demand in the green hydrogen market.
To bolster our efforts, we're seeking a talented and motivated Quality Engineer to join our newly- H2 Center of Excellence (COE) in Burlington, MA. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing quality system functions which support water electrolyzer product development and manufacturing. This position involves collaborating with R&D team, engineering and supply chain leads and partners, managing the document control system underpinning our development roadmap, and enforcing the function of our quality management system through audit, corrective actions and technical investigations. The successful candidate will be a crucial member of Envision Energy's global quality assurance team and will be accountable for the organization's Green Hydrogen mission through optimization of our quality standards and enforcement of product specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with R&D team, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Supply Chain partners to ensure production parts meet specifications and that supplier quality requirements are defined and enforced.
  • Apply statistical methods to verify and enhance component designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Design and implement inspection workflows and manufacturing processes to ensure reliability, performance, and quality of product components.
  • Work closely with global QMS teams to leverage existing corporate quality systems.
  • Take responsibility for design verification and validation planning and execution, including cross-functional root-cause analysis and containment strategies.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, and make recommendations based on population statistics and quality risk reduction needs.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies, and maintaining ASQ-certified quality engineer qualifications.
  • Ensure processes and products adhere to industrial quality standards like ISO Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Identify quality management gaps and advise on headcount strategy to support future team growth.
  • Develop into a leadership role within the Quality department and foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Development, and Manufacturing teams to brainstorm and create solutions for identified problems.
  • Support the R&D team with the curation and application of quality tools to strengthen the statistical foundation of technology development.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Manual in compliance with ISO, ASME, and PED codes and applicable standards.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials or Mechanical Engineering, or related quality-relevant field (master's preferred), with > 3 years of experience.
  • ASQ Quality Engineering certification or sufficient practical experience to demonstrate functional equivalence.
  • Proven quality engineering, preferably in the fuel cell or electrolyzer industry.
  • Strong technology and process validation skills, and a proven track record of solving quality problems with rigor, urgency and creativity.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
  • Fluency or proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin is a preference.

Benefits: The benefits package provided by Envision is comprehensive and competitive, offering a range of benefits to all full-time employees:
  • Fully Paid Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for medical, dependent care and commuter expenses
  • Additional life insurance options
  • 401k retirement savings plan with employer match
  • Generous vacation and paid time off (PTO) policy
  • 8 federal holidays plus 4 floating holidays
  • Sick leave
  • Generous employer contributions towards monthly benefit premiums and gym membership

This package demonstrates Envision Energy's commitment to supporting the well-being and financial security of its employees.
