SafeCare Home Visitor
*This is a temporary to possibly permanent position*
Earn: $25.00/hour
Location: Ontario County, NY (Based out of Monroe Office)

Cayuga Centers is looking for a SafeCare Home Visitor who is passionate about supporting families. Being a parent to an infant or young child can be challenging. Now, imagine how much a family's life could change for the better if their parents were equipped with the knowledge and skills to promote healthy child development over critically important stages. Using an evidence-based and structured approach to skill building, you can serve as an agent of change that puts families on a positive path to resiliency. About the Program and SafeCare Home Visitor Position:
Our SafeCare program serves families with children ages 0-8. We serve by offering a model-focused community-based intervention, and this MAKES A DIFFERENCE because we teach, model and support families in making real time changes . The role of the SafeCare Home Visitor is incredibly important and rewarding.
How you get to use your skills as a SafeCare Home Visitor...
  • Actively participate as part of a team of service providers with the goal of keeping families together
  • Educate parents or caregivers following the SafeCare Program curriculum
  • Model skills surrounding parent-infant/child interaction, how to address a variety of health concerns, maintaining appropriate supervision and childproofing the home
  • Assess parents or caregivers utilizing SafeCare skills, and provide specific positive and corrective feedback
  • Demonstrate an inclusive and accepting practice both in the office and in the field to support a diverse and accepting culture

Required Experience of a SafeCare Home Visitor:
  • Associate's degree in a related field with experience working from a strengths-based perspective with families
  • Ability and willingness to work with families in an "in-home" context
  • Willingness to run parenting groups
  • Excellent communication, organizational and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of the child welfare system
  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to appreciate and encourage diversity and understand the concept of cultural trauma as it applies to individual and family functioning

Physical Requirements of a SafeCare Home Visitor:
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Walking up and down stairs inside/outside
  • Must have the ability to type documentation and maintain proper files.
  • Time on your feet for up to several hours a day
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds

Schedule for a SafeCare Home Visitor:
Looking for an applicant who is willing to work with parents/families at a time that suits the family's needs on a flexible schedule. This is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week position.
