Join Our Team: Hog Farm Herd Technician
SUMMARY: As a Herd Technician, you will play a vital role in the daily production operations on a hog farm. Working as part of a supportive team, you will directly impact the health, safety, and welfare of our animals in a clean, well-managed environment.
DAILY ROUTINE: You will focus on the hands-on, breeding, and farrowing of our herd.:
  • Animal Care: Assist with the daily feeding, watering, processing, castrating, and tagging of gilts and pigs.
  • Animal Movement: Safely handle, catch, and load sows and pigs across farrowing and breeding areas.
  • Environment: Monitor barn rooms, adjust ventilation controls, and maintain the perfect climate for animal comfort.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Power-wash walkways, disinfect docks, and maintain strict biosecurity and farm cleanliness protocols.
  • Record Keeping: Complete simple, accurate data tracking sheets and animal care paperwork on time.
