Job description

About Wing:
Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing's fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on two continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.
About the Role:
Wing is looking for a Ground Crew Evaluator to join our Aviation Training and Operational Readiness team based in Dallas, TX. As a Ground Evaluator, you are responsible for the execution of Wing's training programs and crew role qualification evaluations for ground support operations, supporting Wing's global flight operations. The primary focus of this role is to train, evaluate, and qualify ground support crew-members to operate the Wing system. You will execute training plans for individuals or groups of crew-members and prepare them to satisfactorily complete qualification evaluations (initial, recurrent, and re-qualification). A significant portion of your role will be to conduct qualification evaluations and ensure that crew-members demonstrate the knowledge and skills to meet safety and competency standards. You will also play a key role in the development and validation of training materials, methods, and content for all Wing training programs.
In order to maintain proficiency and expertise, you will also be scheduled and function as a line crew-member for qualified roles. Wing Instructors and Evaluators will report to the Training Lead to support our focus on standards and compliance with our safety culture.
What You'll Do:
  • Earn Part 135 Wing Ground Check Pilot (Ground Evaluator) designation and conduct role qualification evaluations ("check rides") for ground support operators and visual observers.
  • Conduct training for ground support crew positions on the Wing UAS delivery system (Ground Crew Instructors, Ground Support Operators & Visual Observers).
  • Develop and deliver various types of train-the-trainer curriculum.
  • Function as an FAA approved crewmember (Ground Crew Instructor, Ground Support Operator & Visual Observer) when scheduled (around 20% of total effort).
  • Develop training materials, methods, and training syllabus used to conduct training. Provide expertise for creating learning module content; review lessons for accuracy and provide feedback.
  • Validate training material, support testing and evaluation to establish procedures, and collaborate as a subject matter expert (SME) with cross-functional team members.
  • Conduct specialized and advanced training support as needed.
  • Conduct group classroom events and practical events in a training laboratory and in the field to qualify ground support operators and visual observers.
  • Conduct remedial, differences, initial, mission, and recurrent training.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute individual training events.
  • Assess, debrief, and document the performance of trainees during training events and qualification evaluations.
  • Assist in the record generation and audit processes for flight operations training programs and qualification evaluations.
  • Prepare and sign off students for check rides and evaluations conducted by the FAA, Wing Check Pilots, or Wing Ground Evaluators.
  • Support training events and checkride evaluations by bolstering training scenarios and acting as a FitBIT Operator, using OpenSky.

What You'll Need:
  • A minimum of 12 months of relevant experience as a Wing Ground Support Operator.
  • Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Current driver's license and clean driving record within the last 36 months.
  • FAA Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) test completed and passed.
  • Ability to complete Wing Ground Crew Instructor qualification requirements within 30 days of start.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of aviation/flight manuals, training packages, and UAS operations procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of effective teaching strategies and ability to apply them across disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience as a trainer, instructor, educator, or coach.
  • Technical expertise and familiarity with UAS and the ability to operate, troubleshoot, and solve deficiencies to keep training on track.
  • Ability to travel domestically within the US (up to 50%) and internationally (up to 5%).
