Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Shop/Field Diesel Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and vehicle fleets both at our shop facilities and in the field. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and longevity of equipment used across various industries, including construction, agriculture, and transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and HVAC systems on heavy equipment such as excavators, dozer, loaders, haul trucks, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks.
  • Fabricate custom parts or modifications using welding, soldering, power tools, and hand tools to meet specific operational needs.
  • Interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems and mechanical components accurately.
  • Operate heavy machinery safely in the field for equipment repair or maintenance tasks requiring heavy lifting or specialized handling.
  • Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and repair logs to ensure compliance with safety standards and warranty requirements.
  • Collaborate with customers to diagnose issues effectively and provide clear explanations of repairs needed or completed.

Qualifications

  • Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engines and heavy equipment repair; dealership experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive diagnostics, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and suspension components.
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; familiarity with schematics is essential.
  • Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, forklifts, cranes, excavators, tractor-trailers, and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently
  • Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to work independently in shop or field environments.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in demanding conditions; familiarity with safety protocols related to industrial equipment operation.
