What is a full time handyman?

Full time handymen are skilled professionals who perform a wide range of repair, maintenance, and installation tasks in homes or commercial properties. Their duties often include fixing plumbing issues, repairing electrical systems, painting, carpentry, and general upkeep. Being employed full time means they work regular hours, either for a company, property management firm, or as part of an in-house maintenance team. Full time handymen are valued for their versatility and ability to handle various maintenance needs efficiently. They typically possess a broad skill set and may have certifications or licenses depending on local regulations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time handyman, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Handyman, you need a solid understanding of general maintenance, repair techniques, and basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent experience. Familiarity with power tools, hand tools, and maintenance management systems or work order software is commonly required. Problem-solving, reliability, and strong customer service skills are essential to stand out in this role. These skills and qualities ensure swift, safe, and high-quality repairs that keep facilities running smoothly and clients satisfied.

What are some common challenges faced by full time handymen, and how can they be managed on the job?

Full-time handymen often encounter the challenge of managing a wide variety of tasks across different skill areas, such as plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work. Staying organized and keeping up with scheduling can be difficult, especially when unexpected repairs arise. To manage these challenges, many handymen rely on digital tools for scheduling and inventory, prioritize clear communication with clients, and continually expand their skill set through hands-on experience or certifications. Building strong relationships with suppliers and other tradespeople can also help when specialized materials or expertise are required.

Position Highlights

  • Full-time position
  • Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Competitive base pay + bonus for self-generated referrals
  • Amazing team focused on changing the industry
  • Must have hands-on experience in handyman, remodeling, or construction work

Who We Are
Monty's Handyman Services is flipping the script on home services. We're not your average handyman company—we're a disruptive, fast-growing brand on a mission to professionalize the trades and give homeowners an amazing, white-glove experience from start to finish. We're systems-driven, culture-first, and serious about doing great work with a smile.
Who You Are
You're a skilled handyman with a background in home repairs, remodeling, or construction. You take pride in your craftsmanship, love to solve problems, and know how to make customers say "wow." You're dependable, take ownership, and aren't afraid to take the lead on a project.

You're also:

  • A team player who enjoys working with others
  • Growth-minded and coachable
  • Organized and a strong communicator
  • Kind, professional, and customer-first in everything you do

What You'll Do
No two days are the same. One day you're installing trim and drywall, the next you're walking a customer through an estimate or managing a crew of subcontractors on a kitchen remodel. You'll be the face of Monty's—delivering top-tier handyman services and managing relationships with clients and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate and scope out handyman and remodeling jobs
  • Complete hands-on handyman work (excluding licensed trades like electrical and plumbing)
  • Manage subcontractors and oversee quality on larger projects
  • Perform work for our membership program clients (routine maintenance and repairs)
  • Drop off folders and build relationships with property managers and condos
  • Collaborate with third-party referral partners
  • Attend required team meetings and training
  • Represent Monty's with pride, integrity, and professionalism

Qualifications

  • Must pass a background check
  • Clean driving record (required to operate company vehicle)
  • Verifiable experience in remodeling, handyman work, or general construction
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable using technology for estimates, scheduling, and communication
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work indoors/outdoors as needed

Perks of the Job

  • Full-time W2 role
  • Company-provided vehicle, tools, and uniform
  • Bonus opportunities for performance and referrals
  • Health insurance and vehicle stipend
  • Supportive, high-performance team culture
  • Path for growth
  • A workplace where your work truly matters
