Position Description


The main responsibility of the Brine Facility Operator is to operate and maintain the solution mining facility for Client under contractual arrangement with Gulf ESS.


Individuals will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining all the components of the solution mining facility and performing regular, preventative maintenance of pumps, valves, control equipment, pipelines and similar equipment as needed, as well as some occasional reactive repair work.


Essential Functions

  • Make several daily rounds of Salt Cavern Wells, Disposal Wells, and other related equipment to ensure proper operation and checking for faulty equipment, pipe leaks, malfunctioning pumps, valves, etc. 
  • Operate equipment such as starting, stopping, or adjusting speed of pumps as needed, valve alignment, and general maintenance
  • Operate a Scada system to control leaching operations and use basic software for reporting
  • Interface with operations personnel from other organizations, Gulf customers and vendors
  • Work a rotating shift to cover 24x7 operation
  • Follow written instruction and procedures as well as verbal commands from the Lead Operator
  • Adhere to established safety and operational procedures for the solution mining facility and follow all Gulf internal protocols and procedures for all environmental requirements
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct
  • Adhere to Gulf’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Requirements:

Qualifications 

  • 3+ years of field experience in an industrial facilities operations position
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Available for rotating shifts as in days, nights, weekends, and holidays 
  • General computer skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by Gulf’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies


Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic electrical experience including troubleshooting and repair knowledge of pneumatic, electronic, and digital transmitters and controllers, switches, and other process instrumentation
  • Preventative Maintenance Programs experience
  • Equipment Operating and Rigging Certifications
  • Knowledge of ASME, API, and ANSI national codes is ideal 


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience


Work Environment/Physical Demands 

  • Ability to lift, push and pull 75 pounds 
  • Ability to work in changing climate conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters, work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex. Eye protection, footwear, FRC)
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and climb
  • Use various hand tools and calibration equipment
