Clearance: Must currently possess an active TS/SCI security clearance and be able to obtain a CI polygraph after hire (if not before)
Location: Continental United States
Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000
Experience: ILR 3 (Professional Working Proficiency) in Gujarati and English. Prior experience supporting DoD, IC, or federal government language programs.


Description: Category III (CAT III) Gujarati Linguist provide high‑accuracy translation, interpretation, transcription, analysis, and cultural advisement in support of national security missions.

Responsibilities

- Consecutive interpretation and translation between Gujarati and English during ongoing conversations, briefings, and intelligence collection activities.

- Real‑time and non‑real‑time transcription and translation with emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and context.

- Produce idiomatic translations of non‑technical materials using correct syntax and expression; accurately interpret/translate colloquial and slang usage.

- Provide cultural and ethnic context for translations and interpretations; advise users on cultural/ethnic significance of statements, conversations, situations, and documents.

- Conduct document exploitation (DOMEX): scan, research, and analyze foreign language materials to identify and report intelligence information.

- Supplement interpretations/translations with profession‑specific terminology (e.g., medical, scientific, engineering, legal) when pertinent.

- Support mission requirements across oral reports, public addresses (non‑technical), and some oral technical reports; maintain accuracy under time constraints.

- Maintain strict confidentiality, comply with all security policies, and contribute to team workflows in dynamic operational environments.


Required Qualifications

- U.S. citizenship (required).

- Must currently possess an active TS/SCI security clearance and be able to obtain a CI polygraph after hire (if not already held)

- Must be a self-motivated, disciplined, and mature professional capable of operating with little tasking and oversight

- Must be capable of operating within a diverse environment and comfortable operating with limited guidance and oversight, maturity and self-motivation required.

- ILR Level 3 proficiency in both Gujarati and English.

- Understand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect with a broad vocabulary, rarely requiring paraphrasing or explanation.

- Follow accurately the essentials of conversations between educated native speakers.

- Reasonably make and answer telephone calls in Gujarati.

- Understand radio broadcasts, news stories similar to wire service reports, oral reports, some oral technical reports, and public addresses on non‑technical subjects.

Desired Qualifications

- Prior experience supporting DoD, IC, or federal government language programs.

- Proficiency with translation tools and linguistic analysis software; experience with secure systems and workflows.

- Knowledge of domain‑specific terminology (e.g., medicine, scientific, engineering, legal) and the ability to apply it correctly in interpretation/translation.
