POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for promoting the game of golf while providing excellent service to the guests & Members of the Club. Manages the golf course and all of the functions within the course. They create the budgets for each year, hire necessary personnel, act as the host for major tournaments, are responsible for revenue at the pro shop. A head golf professional may also teach lessons and play in regional tournaments to keep their professional status. Will provide assistance to the General Manager, Assistant Pro(s) and Private Event Director.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years as a Golf Professional
  • PGA Class credentials preferred; - Must have completed level 2 in the PGA GPTP Program.
  • Punctuality; Friendliness and enthusiasm
  • Works well under pressure; Ability to work unsupervised at times as well as being able to work as part of a team
  • A college degree in business is preferred for a head golf professional, and being a professional member of the Professional Golf Association is mandatory.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for all golf operations to include outing sales and execution, merchandise sales and inventory control, tournament operations, member relations, budgeting, forecasting and financial accountability
  • Responsible for staffing and personnel supervision of golf shop assistant professionals and golf shop attendants.
  • Prepare annual reviews of key personnel on their performance.
  • Meets with various golf committees to plan and coordinate activities;
  • Plan and conducts meetings with his/her staff, assistant pros, bag boy attendants, locker room attendants, cart attendants;
  • Represents Club in PGA sponsored golf functions with the approval of the Manager as time permits. Must focus these efforts with the goal of maintaining PGA status.
  • Responsible for and supervises golf shop merchandising efforts of golf shop. Keeping in compliance with the buy plan and approved vendor lists
  • Develops golf shop and golf cart operating budget forecasts and sees that all goals are met. Insures that accounting functions and golf control practices are in place and operating to meet Club standards.
  • Establishes teaching program at the Club and teaches golf within the guidelines of this program as time permits.
  • Attends all staff meetings. Works closely with the entire staff at the Club to ensure the Members are receiving the best we can give them and they deserve.
  • Works closely with Membership Director, Golf Course Superintendent and Private Event Director to provide direction and input on all matters relating to golf operations for their specific areas.
  • Respond to the needs of patrons, including diffusing and resolving disputes or complaints and filling out incidence reports as and when necessary.
  • Attend briefing and training sessions as required.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patrons and uphold the company OS&H policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
  • Must be able to stand on feet majority of the day.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed primarily outdoors with possible exposure to extreme heat/humidity. Indoor activities and help as needed.

Golf Equipment, Motorized Golf Cart, Computer, Cash Register (POS), calculator, telephone, facsimile machine, copier and other office equipment.
