Job description

Position Summary The GIS Specialist-Production manages production GIS workflows, enterprise geospatial data, quality control, service publication, and final product release. The position supports mapping, database management, metadata, data acquisition, enterprise content, and production standards. The selected individual works independently while coordinating closely with the Service Center Manager, developers, analysts, users, and Government IT personnel. This is a full-time, onsite position at the designated Government site in the Sacramento, California area. Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform production mapping, spatial-data processing, data editing, and cartographic work.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise schemas, domains, data models, and production workflows.
  • Review maps, datasets, services, and reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Implement and maintain GIS quality-control procedures.
  • Validate spatial references, topology, attributes, metadata, and data integrity.
  • Publish and maintain map, feature, imagery, and analytical services.
  • Support enterprise geodatabases, GIS servers, file repositories, and imagery holdings.
  • Manage users, groups, hosted layers, sharing controls, and GIS content.
  • Coordinate backup, recovery, storage, and system issues with Government IT personnel.
  • Support GPS, imagery, LiDAR, and other approved data-acquisition activities.
  • Assist with incident response, end-user support, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Maintain production procedures, configuration records, and system documentation.
  • Conduct peer reviews of data, maps, services, and other production deliverables.
  • Support development-to-production migration and post-release validation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, engineering, natural sciences, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Three or more years of GIS production experience.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro or comparable desktop GIS software.
  • Experience creating and maintaining geodatabases, schemas, and cartographic products.
  • Knowledge of spatial analysis, mapping, data quality, and metadata principles.
  • Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work full-time at the designated Government site in the Sacramento, California area.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, Portal, or ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience with SQL Server or another enterprise database platform.
  • Experience publishing and maintaining enterprise GIS services.
  • Python, ModelBuilder, or comparable automation experience.
  • Experience with imagery, LiDAR, 3D analysis, field applications, or remote sensing.
  • Experience with production releases, backup verification, and configuration management.
  • Relevant Esri, GIS, database, or geospatial-data certification.
