Garment Presser - Dry Cleaning Production

Martin Cleaners LLC

Independence, MO • On-site

$16 - $17/hr

Full-time

Job description

About the Role

Martin Cleaners is a family-owned dry cleaning, laundry, and alterations shop with a long track record in the community. We're hiring a full-time garment presser to join our small production team.

This is steady, physical work in a production environment. We're honest about the conditions — it's hot, it's demanding, and it requires real consistency. We're also honest about what we offer in return: a stable schedule, a team that functions well, and a workplace where people stick around.

What You'll Do

  • Press dry-cleaned garments at a dedicated station (pants, silks, delicates, and general dry-cleaning)
  • Inspect garments for quality and flag issues as you work
  • Cross-train on other pressing stations as needed
  • Work as part of a small, coordinated team

Schedule

  • Approximately 30-35 hours/week
  • Start time: 6:00 AM; shifts end when production is complete (typically 5–7 hours)
  • Longer days during busy seasons (especially spring)

Compensation & Benefits

  • $16.00–$17.00/hour based on experience
  • 6 paid holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas)
  • Overtime paid when applicable
  • Stable, long-term position

What We're Looking For

  • Dependable — consistent attendance is essential in a small shop
  • Physically capable of standing and working in heat for most of the shift
  • Detail-oriented — able to notice fabric types, care instructions, and quality issues
  • Coachable — open to feedback and ongoing training
  • Team-minded — willing to help and cross-train

Experience in pressing or garment production preferred but not required. We will train someone with the right work ethic and reliability.

Work Environment This is a production environment. Conditions include heat, steam, noise, and exposure to cleaning chemicals. We work to mitigate these where possible, but candidates should be comfortable with physical, hands-on work before applying.

Requirements

  • Legal working age
  • English required
  • Must pass background check and drug screening
  • Reliable transportation and consistent availability

For fastest response, text David at 816-795-5578 with a little about your experience and when you're available to start.

Company Description

We're a small, hometown dry cleaner that believes in doing things the right way — for our customers and our team. We're family-run, fast-paced, and proud of the work we do. We take care of people who show up and pull their weight, and we've got the long-term employees to prove it.
