Job description

Description:

Functional Medicine Provider

Ammon, Idaho  •  Full-Time  •  On-Site  •  Functional Medicine of Idaho

Reports to: the Functional Medicine Medical Director at our Ammon site

Why Functional Medicine of Idaho

Functional Medicine of Idaho was founded in 2018 because we saw what was happening to good people inside a broken system. Patients cycling through appointments, leaving with quick fixes that only addressed the surface. Smart, motivated people who wanted to get better and kept being sent home without real answers. We believed there was a better way — not just a different philosophy, but better medicine. So we built a practice around a different question. Not what do you have, but why do you have it.

That question shapes who we hire. FMI is made up of providers, nurses, nutritionists, and health coaches who chose this work because they believe medicine can do more. Our providers bring deep training in functional and integrative care alongside the rigor of conventional medicine, because we don't think patients should have to choose between the two. You will practice with precision testing that reaches well beyond basic labs, inside an integrated team that blends primary, functional, and specialty care under one roof. And you will have the time to stay with patients: tracking progress, adjusting the plan, and asking questions until they are actually feeling better.

What You'll Do

  • Patient Care: Deliver comprehensive adult care that addresses root causes rather than managing symptoms — full histories, advanced diagnostics, and personalized treatment plans across chronic and complex presentations.
  • Collaborative Care: Partner with nurses, nutritionists, health coaches, and mental health clinicians so every plan is supported well beyond the exam room.
  • Build Your Panel: Grow a patient panel with active support from our marketing, referral, and front office teams. You will have help building internal and external referral relationships.
  • Continuous Improvement: Bring ideas to your site's Functional Medicine Medical Director on patient flow, documentation, diagnostic testing, and therapeutic options.
  • Community Involvement: Join FMI-hosted talks, workshops, and culture events that introduce you to the community and grow your practice.

What You Bring

  • Two or more years of clinical experience, preferably in primary care, internal medicine, or an outpatient setting. Newer providers with functional medicine training are encouraged to apply.
  • Active Idaho license as an MD, DO, NP, or PA, or eligibility to obtain one
  • Prescriptive authority in Idaho, or eligibility to obtain it
  • Degree from an accredited institution
  • Genuine interest in functional and integrative medicine, we will help you go deeper
  • Comfort working inside a multidisciplinary team alongside nurses, nutritionists, health coaches, students, and caregivers

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing complex chronic conditions such as autoimmunity, metabolic disease, gut health, or hormone dysfunction
  • Certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine, or coursework in progress
  • Prior experience practicing functional or integrative medicine
  • Comfort speaking to groups, we host community talks and workshops
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer literacy

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation: Competitive Salary
  • Annual CME stipend with dedicated CME time
  • Dedicated peer review and provider development program
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and Employee Assistance Program
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off
  • Employee discounts on wellness services, supplements, and in-house lab testing
