Job description

Department: Domestic Compression Applications
Referral Bonus: $500.00 USD
Summary
The Applications Engineering team for Domestic Compression Applications in Houston, TX is responsible for
supporting the sales of gas compression equipment for various markets. Equipment is generally not highly
specified and not sold through domestic EPC type companies. Customers are typically end users that
purchase gas compression projects. The equipment we package for this market is primarily reciprocating
and oil-flooded screw compressors driven by either gas engines or electric motors.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
• The Applications Engineer is responsible for providing conceptual and front-end engineering as required, estimating, proposal development and technical support for gas compression projects within the USA & Latin America.
• Evaluate the design and performance of the proposed equipment; ensure deliverability and reliability of suppliers to meet Customer's specifications and timetable.
• Review scope of supply definition and project specifications, develop equipment selection and sizing, and prepare cost estimates and technical/commercial proposals.
• Maintain knowledge of industry and company standards applicable to the equipment being offered.
• Interface with all operational departments within the company.
• Maintain customer relationships; participate in client clarification meetings as required.
• Participate in product development / packaging improvements to provide more cost-effective products.
• Develop over a period of time knowledge of process refrigeration systems.
• Provide initial vessel sizing and P&ID markups to Engineering Team.
• Review project scope and customer specs and create the Turn-In for the engineering team.
• Monitor and report on engineering hours and schedule adherence on projects.
• Up to 5% domestic travel may be required.
Qualifications
  • Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and 24 months of experience in Engineering or related occupation
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in the Gas Compression industry.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in vessel selection, sizing, estimating, and pricing.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience evaluating equipment and ensuring reliability and delivery of suppliers to meet customer specifications and timeline.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience participating in product development and packaging improvements to provide cost effective products.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with Ariel 7 Performance software, Engineering Data Management BOM software, and Flexware Sizing software.

Physical Requirements
Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
