Job description

Residential Sales Manager

Mid-Atlantic Region (Timonium, MD based)
Full-time | On-site / Field

About the Opportunity

Lepley Recruiting Services is representing a privately held, fast-growing flooring subcontractor in the Mid-Atlantic region that is hiring a Residential Sales Manager to lead and grow their residential trade business.

Approximately 70% of residential revenue is driven through the trade channel with custom home builders, remodelers, and design firms. This role is centered around strengthening and expanding that business.

This is a true leadership role (not player-coach) focused on building and developing a high-performing sales team. The position is based out of the Timonium, MD showroom, with expansion into Northern Virginia planned for 2027.

You’ll report directly to the Director of Residential and work closely with senior leadership on strategy, performance, and growth initiatives.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and develop the residential sales team through weekly 1:1s, pipeline reviews, ride-alongs, performance management, and onboarding of new hires
  • Own and grow the trade account portfolio including custom home builders, remodelers, and interior design firms across Maryland, with expansion into Northern Virginia
  • Run the residential deal desk by pressure-testing pricing, protecting gross margin, and coaching reps through negotiations and value engineering
  • Build and maintain relationships with top-tier trade accounts, including hosting quarterly business reviews
  • Partner with leadership on residential P&L performance, target accounts, vendor strategy, and future market expansion
  • Contribute to the showroom experience as a sales tool, including displays, samples, and designer-focused events

What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience in flooring, tile, building products, or a related specified-product category
  • Demonstrated readiness for sales management (prior leadership, team lead responsibility, or strong mentorship track record)
  • Experience selling into the trade channel (custom home builders, remodelers, and/or design firms)
  • Proven ability to hold gross margin in a competitive bid environment
  • Strong pipeline discipline with the ability to run forecasting and weekly reviews
  • Operational understanding of estimating, takeoffs, lead times, and installation scheduling
  • Direct, straightforward communication style with a focus on accountability

Bonus Points
  • Existing relationships with builders or design firms in Maryland and/or Northern Virginia
  • Experience managing multi-location teams or launching new territories
  • Background working with architects and designers on specified products
  • CRM experience (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar)

Why This Role
  • Leadership ownership of a growing residential trade business
  • Expansion opportunity into a new market (Northern Virginia)
  • Direct partnership with a senior leader who owns the full P&L
  • High visibility to executive leadership in a privately held company
  • Clear growth runway tied to long-term company expansion

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based variable compensation
  • Incentives tied to team revenue, gross margin, and retention
  • Accelerator on performance above plan
  • Mileage - standard IRS rate
  • Full benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD, LTD, PTO, 401K + 3% match)
  • Business expenses reimbursed
  • Defined 12-month review with growth tied to expanded scope
