Full time firefighters also participate in regular training, fire prevention education, equipment maintenance, and community outreach. Employment usually offers benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and job stability. These skills and qualities ensure firefighters can protect lives, property, and maintain safety in high-stress, unpredictable situations.

What are some common challenges faced by full-time firefighters, and how can new hires prepare for them?

Full-time firefighters often encounter physically and emotionally demanding situations, such as responding to emergencies at unpredictable hours and dealing with hazardous environments. New hires should be prepared for the shift-based schedule, which may include nights and weekends, and be ready to work as part of a close-knit team under stressful conditions.
