JOB SUMMARY:

The Field Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting, monitoring, and improving safety performance for the Companys operations at semi-permanent project locations (including out-of-state), such as data centers, battery plants, and other large-scale industrial or construction sites. This position serves as the primary field safety representative for assigned project locations and works closely with operations, project supervision, customers, general contractors, site safety teams, and the Companys safety department to ensure work is performed safely, consistently, and in accordance with applicable regulatory, customer, and company requirements.


This role is expected to support the Companys project work in Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, and other locations as assigned. Travel and extended time at project locations will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Serve as the primary safety resource for the Companys personnel assigned to semi-permanent project sites, and customer-controlled job sites. Supporting crew with job-specific expectations, site rules, access requirements, emergency procedures, and customer-specific safety programs.
  • Provide visible field safety presence by observing work activities, engaging crews, identifying hazards, and helping resolve safety concerns in real time.
  • Monitor crane, rigging, signaling, lift support, equipment operation, and related field activities for compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable safety standards.
  • Participate in customer or general contractor safety meetings, pre-task planning meetings, stretch-and-flex meetings, site coordination meetings, and other required safety functions.
  • Assist Operations and site leadership in reinforcing safe work practices, correcting unsafe conditions, and promoting consistent expectations across assigned projects.
  • Review and support critical, complex, unusual, or customer-designed lifts to help ensure appropriate planning, documentation, communication and execution. Including JHAs, pre-task plans, work permits, and related lift packet documentation for completeness and relevance to the work being performed.
  • Verify, observe and communicate inspections, operator qualifications, critical lifts, work, weather and ground conditions, equipment set up, swing radius protection, controlled access zones, clearances and line-of-fire exposures to operations, lift directors, site supervisors or safety leadership.
  • Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and audits of company and customer sites to identify and document potential hazards, implement proactive safety measures, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Support closure of customer or general contractor observations, deficiencies, audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and other industry-specific safety standards. Maintain required project safety documentation in customer-related systems.
  • Communicate documentation gaps or compliance concerns to safety leadership and operations in a timely manner.
  • Support completion and submission of work, lift and access permits and other customer-required forms.
  • Upload and manage applicable documentation, which may include equipment inspections, operator qualifications, training records, JHAs, lift plans, pre-task plans, safety meeting rosters, SDS documents, policies, procedures, and project-specific safety records.
  • Maintain accurate records of field safety activities, inspections, observations, meetings, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Deliver jobsite safety orientations, support in-person training and task specific safety briefings to the company personnel.
  • Provide field safety training, coaching, and mentorship on crane operations, rigging and signaling, hazard recognition, fall protection, defensive driving, emergency response, load securement, and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Support workforce qualification and project onboarding efforts by assisting with rigging and signaling certifications, verifying employee qualifications, and educating employees on site-specific requirements, customer expectations, and company safety programs.
  • Promote compliance and employee engagement in safety initiatives by reinforcing proper completion of JHAs, pre-task plans, inspections, and field documentation, while encouraging participation in Good Catch reporting, near-miss reporting, hazard identification, and safety meetings.
  • Respond to and manage safety-related events including incidents, near misses, property damage occurrences, customer observations, and other safety concerns at assigned project sites, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  • Conduct and support incident investigations by gathering information, interviewing witnesses, documenting findings, preserving evidence, performing root cause analysis, and assisting in the development of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive corrective action and continuous improvement efforts by tracking corrective actions to completion, communicating lessons learned, and coordinating post-incident follow-up with Operations, customers, and Safety leadership.
  • Support consistency and continuous improvement across project
    locations by identifying safety trends, addressing recurring issues, communicating documentation requirements, and helping standardize safety practices and expectations across multiple sites and regions.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Travel is required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Prior working knowledge and experience in construction safety, crane safety, industrial safety, or field safety support.
  • Certified in OSHA 30-hours Construction, First-Aid/CPR preferred.
  • Three+ (3) years of experience working on large-scale construction projects, data centers, battery plants, industrial facilities, or customer-controlled sites
  • Strong knowledge of cranes, rigging, signaling, lift plans, controlled access zones, ground conditions and critical lift planning.
  • Experience with safety audits, incident investigations and emergency response planning. BCSP (CHST, STSC, GSP, ASP, CSP) or similar safety credential preferred but not required.
  • Rigging and signaling trainer/qualified evaluator experience preferred.
  • Experience with ProCore, HammerTech, SafetyCulture, or similar safety management platforms preferred.
  • Ability to lead and influence others to prioritize safety in all operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, multi-task, maintain focus and manage time effectively without constant direction.
  • Take action when needed, identifies issues, and seeks solutions.
  • Take ownership of outcomes and learn from mistakes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, stoop or crouch, climb stairs and access uneven terrain.
  • The work environment involves working in both office and field environments, including exposure to potential safety hazards in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear all required PPE.
