What you'll do:

  • Prepare, administer, and document medications, tests, and treatments
  • Record time spent performing individual treatments, in accordance with ancillary services policy, on the medication/treatment record
  • Ensure proper storage and security of prescription drugs and biologicals in accordance with facility policies and procedures
  • Notify the physician of refusal of medication/treatments, non-compliance with a treatment plan, and resident response to medication regime with prompt notification to the physician of any adverse reactions
  • Keep medication cart, refrigerator, and room neat, clean, and the medication stored properly
  • Ensures the correct disposal of all sharps
  • Key information into computer systems including EMR
  • Practice, implement, and supervise Infection Control, Universal Precaution, and safety policies and procedures
  • React appropriately to emergency and disaster situations
  • Other duties as necessary and assigned

What we're looking for:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current, active license as an RN
  • Experience in long term geriatric nursing care, preferred
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information in the English language
  • Must be easily understood through verbal communication in the English language
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement and weight measurement
  • Must have empathy along with exceptional communication and customer service skills

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to body fluids and communicable diseases
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met
