Marathon Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine is a privately owned, multi-location practice with a staff of physical therapists, massage therapists, athletic trainers, exercise physiologists, CSCS, and personal trainers with a mission to provide high quality physical therapy along with complimentary Health & Wellness programs.
All current locations are excited to offer a unique opportunity for candidates who are eager to kick-start their journey in the field of exercise science and rehabilitation. Marathon is committed to adding both part-time and full-time Exercise Specialists to each of our teams, with a commitment to clinical education and mentorship in preparation for future career goals. Ideal Exercise Specialist candidates will be self-motivated, self-directed individuals who will model and promote Marathon's mission of "Keeping You Well Throughout The Race Of Life" and passionate about providing excellent patient and client care for our physical therapy and health & wellness services.

Responsibilities:
As an exercise specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting patients and Physical Therapists to implement personalized exercise programs. Your main responsibilities will include:
  1. Assisting MPT staff during fitness assessments, exercise sessions, and rehabilitation programs.
  2. Observing and learning from experienced clinicians, gaining insights into best practices and advanced exercise techniques.
  3. Providing direct supervision and guidance to patients during exercise sessions.
  4. Engaging in regular training sessions and educational workshops to enhance your clinical knowledge and exercise skills.

Mentorship and Learning Program:
We are committed to your professional growth and development. Our mentorship and learning program is designed to provide you with the necessary tools and knowledge to not only excel as an Exercise Specialist, but create pathways towards future goals in related fields. The program includes:
  1. One-on-one mentorship with experienced exercise specialists who will guide and support you throughout your learning journey.
  2. Monthly staff inservices focusing on various aspects of exercise science, physiology, patient management, and ethical practices.
  3. Opportunities to participate in case discussions, projects, and other educational offerings to deepen your understanding of evidence-based practices in an outpatient clinic setting.
  4. Regular feedback and performance evaluations to identify your strengths and areas for improvement.

Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:
  1. High School Diploma:
    1. Preferred Education: BS in Health, Exercise, Physiology, or Kinesiology
    2. Preferred Certifications: BLS Competencies
  2. Passion for working with patients and a strong desire to pursue a career as an Exercise Specialist.
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with patients and the healthcare team.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  5. A strong commitment to learning and continuous professional development.
  6. A degree of physical strength is necessary, as the job requires the lifting and moving.

Physical Demands

Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
