Salary Range:ย  $115kย -ย $135kย a yearย

OVERVIEWย 

The Executive Pastor is a senior leader who translates Hillsideโ€™s vision into organizational reality. This role carries broad responsibility for the health and alignment of Hillsideโ€™s staff, ministries, and operations, ensuring that every team is moving in the same direction. The ideal candidate is a proven leader who loves the church, develops people well, and brings the operational clarity needed for a church to thrive.ย Theyย are committed toย the vision of seeing Godโ€™s hope transform our cities one story at a time, and the mission of experiencing Godโ€™s love, Growing in Community, Serving with Compassion, and Multiplying Impact.ย

RESPONSIBILITIESย 

Pastoral Engagementย

  • Maintain an active pastoral presence with staff, volunteers, and congregation membersย 

  • Represent Hillside in community relationships and partnerships that advance the churchโ€™s missional presence in the Inland Empire.ย 

Strategic Leadershipย 

  • Champion the vision of Hillside by translating it into clear organizational goals, annual plans, and measurable outcomesย 

  • Lead the annual strategic planning process, including ministry performance reviews,ย goal-setting, and (3-5ย year??)ย horizon planningย 

  • Ensure all ministry areas are aligned with Hillsideโ€™s mission strategies: Experiencing Godโ€™s Love, Growing in Community, Serving with Compassion, and Multiply Impact.ย 

Staff Leadership & Developmentย 

  • Supervise, develop, and advocate for Ministry Team Leads and operational staff, fostering a culture of accountability and growthย 

  • Oversee people and culture functions including hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, staff transitions, and policy complianceย 

  • Lead and coordinate all-staff meetings, leadership retreats, and team rhythms that build unity and clarityย 

  • Cultivate a healthy staff culture rooted in Hillsideโ€™s Core Staff Valuesย 

Operational Oversightย 

  • Oversee the operational readiness of Hillside, including finance, administration, facilities, and supply functionsย 

  • Collaborate with Ministry Leads to develop annual budgets that fund strategic priorities andย maintainย healthy cash reservesย 

  • Ensure sound financial stewardship and accountability across all ministry budgetsย 

Ministry Effectivenessย 

  • Coach and resource Ministry Team Leads to evaluate effectiveness,ย identifyย gaps, and develop their teamsย 

  • Facilitate cross-ministry collaboration toย eliminateย silos and maximize kingdom impactย 

  • Support the development of volunteer leadership infrastructure across all ministriesย 

Other duties as assigned.ย 

Education and/or Experience:ย 

  • M.Div. or equivalent graduate degree strongly preferredย 

  • 7โ€“10 years of ministry leadership experience in a large church and/or parachurch contextย 

  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing staff teamsย 

  • Track recordย of managing complex organizational operations including finance, HR, and facilitiesย 

Required Skills and Abilities:ย 

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.ย 

  • Able to navigate conflict with grace and clarity.ย 

  • Strong organizational leadership and strategic planning instincts with the ability to manage multiple priorities.ย 

  • High emotional intelligence, and a non-anxious, steady presence in challenging situationsย 

  • Ability to align diverse teams around a shared mission and hold staff accountable with careย 

  • Proficiencyย with church management and productivity softwareย 

Required Licenses or Certifications:ย 

  • Ordination required or actively pursuing ordinationย
