As a Copywriter II, you’ll lead copy development of compelling consumer and b2b concepts and copy for traditional advertising, digital channels, and permanent signage to drive sales, engagement, and conversion. You’ll lead creation and maintenance of H-E-B’s voice and tone
based on our brand standards and partner with designers, digital designers, content creators, and planning and design Partners on key projects.

What is the work?
Communications:
− Helps lead development of advanced concepts for in-store, digital, and permanent signage marketing efforts
− Writes / edits copy for signage, product descriptions, direct mail, brochures, streaming audio, permanent signage, online editorial posts, web pages, email, naming, and video; sources / writes accurate, grammatically correct copy
− Translates concepts and strategies into striking, engaging, consistent copy
− Ensures consistent voice and grammatical standards for each brand, category, and product group based on H-E-B brand standards
− Adheres to stringent deadlines to ensure smooth project flow through department and allow for special projects, pre-work, and rush assignments
− Continuously writes fresh, interesting copy to promote frequently featured merchandise across all channels
− Collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to maximize impact of messages
− Recommends strategic tone of copy communication; ensures consistent brand messaging

− Leads / sets up streaming audio sessions with outside vendors
− Coaches / mentors others
What is your background?
Advertising
− A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
− 5+ years of experience in copywriting
− Experience in advertising, or brand copywriting


Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Copywriter II?

− Expert knowledge of mechanics of writing, punctuation, spelling, grammar, usage, and syntax
− Working knowledge of sales and advertising writing, and business / consumer needs and insights
− Familiarity with authoritative references and trade sources for research-based info related to food industry trends
− Familiarity with AI-assisted writing tools and effective prompting techniques is preferred

− Advanced verbal / written business communication skills
− Advanced collaboration and interpersonal skills
− Leadership skills
− Bi-lingual (English – Spanish) skills a plus
− Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks / projects; attention to detail
