Job Description:
3form is looking for a full-time Engineering Lead to join our Fabrication team. Designs, plans, develops, and coordinates fabrication jobs and processes at various stages of fabrication. Organizes, reports, and performs follow-up audits consistent with established fabrication standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate team members. Trains and guides other Engineers to follow standards and best practices. Maintains drawing detail library.
Job Duties:
  • Lead and support the Fabrication Engineering team in the planning, development, and execution of fabrication projects.

  • Drive ownership of engineering-driven On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance, quality, utilization, and schedule adherence.

  • Design, develop, and oversee the team responsible for fabrication drawings, work instructions, and technical documentation for production.

  • Develop and maintain standard work including job handoff checklists, pre-release reviews, schedule validation, and quality verification processes.

  • Partner with Client Services, Operations, Production, and Scheduling teams to verify job requirements, resolve discrepancies, and support customer commitments.

  • Ensure accurate due dates aligned with production needs and proactively identify risks impacting delivery.

  • Establish and maintain reporting for utilization, budget performance, quality issues, drafting OTD, and late job recovery actions.

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions related to engineering errors, rework, unclear scope, and delivery delays.

  • Standardize and maintain drawing libraries, reusable details, and engineering standards to improve consistency and reduce variability.

  • Train, mentor, and develop Engineers on drafting standards, problem solving, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Drive improvements focused on reducing drafting cycle time, improving first-pass accuracy, and eliminating rework.

  • Provide visibility to Operations leadership on delivery risks, resource constraints, and performance trends.

  • Reinforce a culture of accountability, proactive communication, and customer commitment.

  • Ensure all engineering activities align with company safety standards, policies, and procedures.

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with SolidWorks or CAD software

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction or millwork

  • Proficiency with shop machining and various assembly techniques

  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple projects while ensuring quality and meeting deadlines

Physical Demands:
Amount of Time Spent Performing Activities:
  • Sitting: Up to 2/3 of the shift

  • Walking/Standing: Up to 1/3 of the shift

Required Physical Strength and Movement:
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally

  • Must be able to work while standing and walking for extended periods

  • Must be able to work in and around production equipment, including climbing ladders or stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching

  • Must be able to see and hear to acknowledge critical safety instructions, alarms, forklift traffic, and perform quality and equipment inspections
