Join the City of South Jordan as an Engineering Inspector Supervisor!
Are you ready to lead work that helps keep South Jordan's streets, utilities, and public infrastructure safe and dependable? The City of South Jordan's Engineering Department is seeking a full-time Engineering Inspector Supervisor to oversee inspection activities for City projects and private development. This onsite position combines field expertise, employee supervision, project coordination, and public service to help ensure construction meets applicable standards and supports the long-term needs of the community.
What You'll Do:
  • Provide direction and oversight to engineering inspectors responsible for quality control on City infrastructure projects.
  • Train, mentor, supervise, and evaluate assigned employees while coordinating daily field assignments and resources.
  • Help plan and coordinate public infrastructure projects, including design changes and utility conflicts.
  • Work with City departments, contractors, developers, engineers, and public agencies to resolve construction-related issues.
  • Review payment applications, support construction contract administration, and guide projects through construction and warranty periods.
  • Respond professionally to resident concerns and help resolve issues associated with assigned project work.

Who You Are:
  • An experienced construction or inspection professional with an associate degree in construction management or a related field and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skilled in reading plans and specifications, estimating material quantities, and applying construction codes, standards, and safety practices.
  • Able to exercise independent judgment, communicate clearly, and build effective working relationships with employees, contractors, agencies, and residents.
  • A holder of a valid Class D driver license.
  • Prepared for fieldwork in varying weather and construction conditions, schedule adjustments, frequent travel, and physical tasks that may include moving up to 60 pounds.
