Job description

KIMA-TV is looking for a driven, creative, and curious Multimedia Journalist to join our award-winning news team. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller, great multi-tasker, deadline-drive, and eager to learn and grow. This is not a desk job – you will have to shoot, write, edit, and present compelling content across multiple platforms. We want someone who is eager to break stories, build sources, and embrace enterprise reporting. If you’re passionate about breaking news, and owning every story, we want to talk with you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Research, pitch, shoot, write, edit, and present stories for daily newscasts and digital platforms
  • Deliver live reports with clarity, confidence, and urgency
  • Create content that reflects and engages our communities i
  • Develop and maintain sources in the community and stay on top of issues that impact our viewers
  • Actively engage with viewers on social media and through digital platforms
  • Collaborate with producers, photographers, and other MMJs to develop impactful content
  • Meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field, preferred
  • 1-2 years of reporting experience preferred, but not required
  • Preferable to be able to shoot and edit with non-linear editing software (Edius, Premier, or Final Cut Pro)
  • Strong news judgement and storytelling skills
  • Ability to produce content under deadline pressure
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Familiarity with AP style and newsroom content management systems is a plus
  • A passion for news and a drive to win


The base salary compensation range for this role is $19 to $20 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, vacation time, and floating holidays.
