Job description

The Payroll Accounting Analyst ensures accurate employee compensation by auditing payroll data, reconciling accounts, and ensuring that all payroll transactions balance between payroll and financial systems. They analyze weekly payroll transactions in Workday and perform any necessary adjustments and journal entries in SAP. Key duties include reconciling payroll to the general ledger, identifying/correcting errors and optimizing payroll processes. Review and distribution of various payroll reports.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure consistent and daily balancing of all payroll accounts from Workday to SAP general ledger
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts against the general ledger
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data including incomplete transactions and errors
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and year end close activities
  • Assist in ensuring payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute payroll reports to management, internal partners and external vendors
  • Support payroll system implementations, upgrades, and testing
  • Coordinate and engage across HR functional teams for identification and resolution of payroll related issues, including HRIS, Benefits and Compensation
  • Assist in setup and maintenance of new and existing pay components and general ledger accounts
  • Partner in processing Executive Comp payments including Stock Options and Deferred Comp

Job Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • CPA preferred

Required Experience:
  • 3+ years proven experience in payroll, accounting or similar analytical role
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and accounting principles
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Ability to analyze payroll and accounting data
  • Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication
  • Experience with payroll and accounting systems (SAP and Workday)
  • Attention to detail and organization
