Position Overview:

As part of the talented Freedom Boat Club team (the nation's oldest and largest private member boat club), you will be working with a team of Dock Staff on our varied fleet of boats, as a key role of a Fleet Maintenance Dock Hand! We are looking for a mechanically inclined individual that will perform light maintenance on our vessels and diligently utilize our Fleetio fleet management software to log the work completed. This individual should also be able to demonstrate basic customer service skills, as the role will interact on a regular basis with our members.

This position is temporary/seasonal (ends in October/November), full-time approximately 40 hours per week, and requires availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoot and perform light maintenance on vessels
  • Own the process of entering and updating the Fleetio software
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language
  • Make and answer telephone calls using appropriate etiquette
  • Support team to reach common goals
  • Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors

Required Qualifications:

  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Valid CT Safe Boating License
  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to utilize a tablet and the Fleetio software
  • Vision adequate to read / manipulate handheld computer tablets
  • Highly effective communication skills and friendly customer service
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Adhere to all safety policies
  • Maintain a cooperative, team attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fleet maintenance background
  • Boating experience in and around boats
  • Proven experience using applications
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity

Working Conditions:

  • Work outdoors and in various weather conditions for an extended period of time
  • Work in a marina setting on docks that may be fixed or floating
  • Work near and on the water
  • Safely move on, off and in vessels during various tide and weather conditions

The anticipated pay for this position is $19.00, hourly.
