Position Overview: The Commissioning Technician is responsible for supporting the startup, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of HVAC, mechanical, and building automation systems. This role works closely with project managers, team members, and customers to ensure systems are operating safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform startup and commissioning activities for HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and verify operations of building automation and control systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and technical specifications.
  • Assist with functional performance testing and system verification
  • Document commissioning results, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, project teams, and customers during project execution.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company safety standards and jobsite requirements.
  • Support field service and warranty calls as needed.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and commissioning reports.
  • Communicate project updates and technical information clearly to supervisors and customers.
  • Participate in training opportunities to expand technical knowledge and certifications.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Experience with BAS platforms such as Trane, Siemens, Honeywell, or Distech.
  • Knowledge of HVAC sequences of operation and control strategies.
  • Construction or industrial field experience.
  • Ability to use hand tools, meters, laptops, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments with limited direction.
