Job Description

This position will teach masters and doctoral level courses in the higher education leadership and student affairs program. Serve as a major advisor, member, or method specialist on master's thesis and doctoral dissertation committees. Develop or maintain a research and scholarship agenda. Recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students. Work effectively with colleagues across disciplines. Assist in program operation and planning. Participation in service activities. Perform other duties as requested.

This position reports to the Dean of the College of Education and Learning Design and serves as a member of the Educational Leadership, Higher Education, and Student Development department. This position works collaboratively with other faculty and staff to advance the strategic mission of the College of Education and Learning Design and Saint Cloud State University.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned Doctorate in Higher Education or related fields from accredited institution by date of appointment

  • Ability to serve as major advisor on master's thesis and doctoral dissertation committees

  • Evidence of potential for success in 1) teaching online at the graduate level; 2) establishing/maintaining a research and publication agenda; 3) participating in professional and scholarly associations; and 4) advising and mentoring master's and doctoral students

  • Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualification

  • Successful leadership experience in higher education.

  • Ability to serve as method specialist on master's thesis and doctoral dissertation committees.

  • Evidence of experience and academic expertise in one or more of the following areas: organization and administration; law; college students; student affairs; school and community partnerships; assessment and institutional effectiveness.

  • Experience teaching online.

  • Experience in and ability to work independently and in an online environment.
