Job Description

The starting pay range for this position begins at $16.32/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. Full Time: a position averaging 35+ hours a week

The Housekeeping Houseperson at the Inn on Biltmore Estate is responsible for assisting and supporting room attendants in the maintenance and cleanliness of guest areas and rooms in accordance with both hotel and four star/diamond standards.  Duties include, but are not limited to:  removal and storage of dirty linen and trash from room attendant carts and hallways; providing room attendants with timely service and clean materials; and handing guest deliveries to rooms and special requests. 

Shift: 8:30am – 5:30pm (shift varies based on hotel occupancy) Weekend shifts are a requirement of this position.

Requirements:

    1. Previous experience in housekeeping and/or custodial, janitorial, or related field strongly preferred.

    2. Knowledge of hotel housekeeping and/or rooms operations preferred.

    3. Commitment to delivering world class guest service and anticipating guest needs.

    4. Knowledge of proper chemical handling and cleaning techniques helpful.

    5. Proven ability to multi-task effectively, work as part of a team and under deadlines, and exercise good judgment.  Must be able to prioritize.

    6. Excellent attention to detail is a must.

    7. Ability to be proactive and take initiative as appropriate.

    8. Solid communication skills.  Must be able to respond appropriately to guest requests.

    9. Ability to operate/use small commercial cleaning equipment.

    Physical Requirements:

    1. Able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 75 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally (with assistance).

    2. Endure various physical movements throughout the work area; must be able to kneel, stoop, bend, reach overhead and below.

    3. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time throughout the shift; may occasionally work in locations where the ability to climb ladders or stairs would be required.

    Essential Job Duties:

    1. Pick up dirty linen and deliver to appropriate area.
    2. Place dirty linen in proper bins and keep laundry room organized; deliver clean linen and supplies to room attendants on the guest floors in a timely manner.
    3. Remove trash from carts, hallways, and storage areas and dispose of properly.
    4. Properly wash glasses and cups, and deliver to room attendants on the guest floors.
    5. Vacuum and dust guest hallways polishing woodwork and stainless steel as needed.
    6. Maintain clean and safe stairwells as assigned, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting; keep service elevators and landings clean.
    7. Keep closets and storage areas stocked, neat, clean and organized.
    8. Clean vending areas, including ice machines, and beverage machines.
    9. Perform guest deliveries to rooms as assigned.
    10. Responsible for weekly cleaning projects on the guest floors.
